Congrats UGA, but you still have Jim Chaney. The kids will never get coached up
So, Chaney did nothing to develop Brandon Allen at Arkansas or Nathan Peterman at Pitt?
Enos and Canada did that all on their own?

But Fields was on Cam's 7 on 7 team and will steer him to the Barn or whatever BS Auburn fans were believing
He's a very big Cam fan, which makes it even more puzzling that we were one of the last in the SEC to offer him.

Sorry you don't know shite about the situation. Call me what you want, but you are ignorant in this case.

Maybe you should have put your other post first instead of just saying the AU coaches backed off

You are right. I didn't mean to imply what I did.
Good luck with him. I wish we had him.

Sorry, I misspoke.
Auburn realized he was a stretch recently and instead of alienating a 2 year commit that is also a very good QB, they did not press as hard on Fields.
I've seen Fields a lot in person, know the family and he's an incredible QB and kid.
I'm just saying Auburn wasn't running a full court press on him in the 11th hour. His non-commitment to Auburn was not a surprise to anybody who knew what was happening.
All good man.

Recruiting is hard... you miss a lot more shots than you make for most schools, UGA included. Right now things are going our way... time to see how long we can sustain it.

Congrats UGA, but screw Gus. That's 3 potential all star QB's he's whiffed on and two of them supposedly looked up to Cam Newton. Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, and now Fields. Gus is the king of missing on the good ones. Hopefully Malik Willis will be a diamond in the rough that nobody else looked at real hard.

Agreed.
I like the potential of Joey Gatewood almost just as much as Justin Fields. Joey Gatewood is also, IMO, underrated due to him having to rotate with another soon-to-be FBS QB. He’s big, fast, a really good athlete and also a better passer than I have given him credit for.
Good luck to Justin Fields at Georgia.
I just wonder who transfers first out of their big 3 at QB...

After Fromm this year, then Justin, they can all have had a turn beating Auburn

Yall were never getting him. He was locked in to Clemson since the 6th grade.

not sure about the others, but DW was never happening. He wasn't for us either but that doesn't mean people still think he was

6th grade is a stretch. Mike Bobo didn't like him at qb for some reason

Justin Fields is rated the 1 player by 247 and is 1 on composite. NUMBER 1 by every site.....there is no disagreement
Not exactly, but he's tied with Lawrence for Composite #1 at .9998
Tied for #1 with Lawrence with 100 scores on 24/7.
#1 ESPN.
#2 Rivals.
#2 Scout.

quote:Simply put - you are a moron. Gus has done some of the best QB recruiting in the last 10 years or so overall. You completely failed to mention that Gus landed the top QB transfer last year in Stidham whom will probably go on to have a very successful career in the NFL. Gus can't hit a home run on every recruit - its just the law of averages. Sean White was highly recruited and Malik Willis could very easily end up being a star. Add in Gatewood and probably Nix. I am more than content with where we are at QB, although getting Fields definitely would have been YUUUGE, not gonna lie, but your perspective is simply dumb.

After edit, I forgot to mention a player by the name of CAM FREAKIN NEWTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After second edit, I forgot to mention another player by the name of NICK FREAKIN MARSHALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ratings are the same composite and 247 numerically, but they were before as well and Lawrence was still the #1. They explicitly placed Fields above Lawrence... so while it is the slimmest of margins, they do have him higher, insofar as they don't have ties.

I'm referring to top QB's out of HS, not transfers. If it wasn't for transfers, Gus wouldn't have made it thus far. Malik Willis is the only HS QB that he's recruited that I see promise out of. SW I knew wouldn't fit with Gus's wants. JJ I knew wasn't as good as advertised from simply seeing him at camps that my team was at with him and being from the same area. I'm not forming an opinion on Gatewood because I haven't gotten the opportunity to see him in person. Hopefully he won't be a JJ. I'll be glad to admit Gus is good at getting some stellar transfers, but on HS recruits, we have yet to have success with the product he has produced. I don't know about you, but it's getting old having to rely on transfers that will only be here 1-2 years at the most.
So if I'm such a moron please name one QB that Gus recruited out of HS that has been any good? SW was fortunate we had a hell of a RB duo last year and only looked decent against sub par defenses. In the end you're the moron if you think Gus is worth a dayum at getting quality HS QB's to come play at AU.
