If they can do it, you can do it.

There's a caveat to this. If you live in a rural area you may not get any stations. It all depends on the distance from the tower and the broadcasting power of the station. I tried this several years ago and it wasn't an option for me living over 50 miles from any Local TV tower. Also terrain matters. Hill/Mountains can block the signal.

Channelmaster.com is a good place to pick out a good digital antenna and give good customer support to help pick one out. I live about 45 miles from our local antennas and got a roof ridge mount, antenna, and signal booster for about 300 dollars 5 years ago from them. Free local channels for life and always work even if the internet is down.
Fubo is a good streaming option. Sling too, just check the pacakge (not sure about abc). Sling will let you do a day pass for 4.99.

FUBO has a cheaper service that picks up all, or at least most of the football games. I think you get a week for free, then $10 off the first month...then it's something like $55 a month? I'm in the ballpark with those figures. I don't really watch over the air TV anymore, so I have Prime and Britbox and have more shows than I have time to watch and it's MUCH cheaper. I cancel YouTube TV after the season, so I spend about $25 or $30 a month on TV out of football season, and with FUBO next year will spend $85 tops on television.

So? ABC, ESPN, HULU…. all owned by Disney. All carry games.

He should have no trouble getting the game with the antenna.
This is the way to go if he only wants the major networks.
If he wants SEC Network, ESPN or their affiliates he would need to get FUBO Sports Only, or another service.

If you end up going the antenna route, you can use this to see how good a recception may be possible for the location and antenna type recommendations.
BTW, using antenna provides better picture quality over streaming, usually.

I have a friend that is a bit up there in years who has YouTubeTV
Tell him to come to my house and we'll watch the game together. Get here early and we'll watch all the games. Have him contact me and I'll tell him what snacks to bring and we'll put him up on the couch overnight so he doesn't have to drive back in the dark. We'll feed him lunch during the games and breakfast Sunday morning.

Wasn't there a federal law at one time that required cable etc providers had to provide local channels?
