Div 1 big name school has to be the hardest coaching job that exists today.

This goes beyond Sark..

College Coaches used to have to only deal with the recruitment of 18 year old young men. Now they have to deal with the shifting sands of NIL and the Portal, with the Portal being far more damaging to their potential career paths.

I think if a college coach gets an opportunity for a HC in the NFL, that is a thing of beauty and cannot be overlooked. Granted, now they would have to deal with GMs, Owners, and Players who might view them as the flavor of the 3 year contract.

Each has it's downfalls, but I think the coaching profession within the college ranks have skewed towards the negative in the quality of life metric.

Let's think it through. What you say is correct of course - but Sark is currently at a place where he should be well-positioned for today's rules.

Look at Saban and even Riley a couple years back. They bolted. They both knew the winning recipe at Bama and OU, and they knew it wouldn't work going forward.

But now, the game (and the school) is tilted in favor of guys like Sark, so he shouldn't hasten to run away. He's in the drivers seat in college ball.

I don’t think there will be any program immune from significant portal defections.

And in the case of top contenders the defections of course won’t starters but players (3 or 4 star) that didn’t get enough perceived playing time. It is strictly depth. Depth that is essential to have when the injury bug hits teams.

Methinks some other schools want Sark to go. I gots news. Texas bankroll ain't got nothing to do with Sark. And quite frankly, neither does its top 5 defense.
