Good....nothing against Charlie Strong either. We're going to need a bullseye hire to get us out of this bullshite, and it's not all Petrino's fault either.

I'm not sold completely on Charlie but I don't think he would be the worst choice you can make.
He's a good recruiter but you guys need a total rock star to compete for good recruits nationally. Charlie is not that and his personality will never make him that.

If he was Smart he would.

realistically who do you think you're going to get that's better?
Does it matter?
You can find ways to tear down any hire then praise them for how good they were after the fact.

We share a professional and I don't mean hooker.
I'll keep you posted.
Having been in the SEC, I don't think Charlie wants to take a job that is as hard as Arkies. He wants a top level job if that makes sense and I'm not trying to be mean even though it's going to sound that way to some.
Arky, is not the easiest job in the SEC. It's one of the more difficult jobs for recruiting.
Also, note that I did say at this time.

I see what you did there...

Tennessee is probably going to want to talk to Strong in the near future as well.

I haven't asked about UT. The next time I get the chance I will.

If UT grabs Strong IDK what Arky will do. Briles or Franklin would be good choices but idk if either would make a lateral move like that.

You don't have to do that. Although if he says something interesting, I wouldn't mind hearing about it.

I think he'll be the number two candidate.

That's fine, we already suffered a decade under a lazy coach.

Trying too hard.

He's not lazy. He's just quiet. Think more like Tony Dungy's demeanor.
You guys need someone that will get down in the mud IMO.

Oh I completely agree with this 100%. It has everything about a top level job outside of location. Drop our money, facilities and fan base in to Texas and it's an elite job. It's tough to go against Alabama, LSU and Auburn year in and year out when there is not a lot of talent in the immediate vicinity and then when you do get to talent rich areas you are having to go to war with the big boys that are a lot closer to that city. Not everyone wants to take on that kind of fight in order to win just their division once every 5 or 6 years.
It's definitely a tough draw and exactly why I don't think we will even come remotely come close to landing some of the names our fan base is throwing out there but I was really hoping that the allure of coming home would be high with him.

Lateral meaning non-destination job

You say he doesn't want anything but an easier job, do not want a coach who will not put in the work and instead expects things to be easy.

In the end, the home part may end up being a draw for him. Arky is just not what I understand to be his next stop.
However, the money will be huge and he will end up listening based on that alone. All is not lost with him IMO.

Funny, do you know how many coaches have left on their own the past 50 years?
