If anything, Florida State had this dude named Jernigan who was the only player all year to get the best of our offensive line and clog the interior run. You take that away from our 2013 team and that offense is going to face some real issues. I thought that Malzahn called a beauty of a game offensively though, outside of one or two really bad decisions (the CAP wildcat play will be forever burned into my retinas)
Your comment about Jernigan was right on (I posted basically the same thing earlier), and until and unless an opposing team can bring a quality NG to the party, Gus should have a degree of continued success. The two people that I'm not so sure that y'all can replace (and must to replicate last year's success)are Mason and Robinson. The emergence of 2 guys who can fill those voids without losing much will determine the success of your season, IMO.
I hope we'll be able to have more exchanges in the future.

Florida State only allowed 12.1 points per game. Objectively, and subjectively, they were the best defense in college football during the 2013 season, and I can say that without hesitating.
They played a 1-game schedule. Clemson's offense isn't that potent. South Carolina embarrassed them again. What other "good" teams did Florida State beat during the regular season?
Florida State may have had the best defense, but Michigan State and Stanford have an argument too. A healthy Florida defense was better than Florida State's too. Florida State's defense was largely untested throughout the season.

For starters, Alabama had a better defense.
That's BS. Alabama was better against the run; that's it. Overall, I'd take Florida State's 2013 defense over Alabama's last season any day.

I'm extremely confident that our offense will never stray far from the top 3 in the conference during the remaining years that Malzahn stays at Auburn.
If only Auburn weren't rebuilding in 2011, Gus might have been able to prove something. Auburn's success has come in years where SEC defenses aren't as strong. 2013 Auburn doesn't win the conference if they had to play in 2011 or 2012 SEC.

but with the whole offseason to study film and prepare, they'll be shut down in year two.
I'll help your prepare for it. We run left and we run right. Every now and again the qb keeps it and he runs either left or right. Good luck stopping it.

they had no motivation and looked like a drone team all year.
Sounds like a Saban problem. Personally, I don't think they were unmotivated. I thought they didn't have the secondary talent to beat Oklahoma and played sloppily on offense. They still only lost by 2 tds.

The defense did not respond to pressure well, but they stiffened in the second half. The offense couldn't take advantage of Oklahoma's canceled momentum.

They're one of the best last season.

Clemson's O was top 10 in points and passing yards.
They played very poorly VS South Carolina. Did you miss their game VS Ohio St.?
They beat:
25th ranked Maryland
3rd ranked Clemson
7th ranked Miami (who were undefeated before losing their star player)
20th ranked Duke

Florida State's defense was largely untested throughout the season.
Boston College had a top 20 rushing attack and a Heisman contender.
Miami were top 40 in total O and Passing yards and had one of the better RB's in college football.
Syracuse were top 40 in rushing.

Maryland?..Clemson?...Miami?...Duke?
Are you seriously trying to say that FSU played as strong a schedule as any SEC team?...All these teams that you mention...who did they succeed against?...other ACC teams.

I think this is an inappropriate place for a schedule argument. How did Alabama fare versus Texas A&M, LSU in the 1st half, and Auburn? Auburn left at least one offensive touchdown on the field versus Alabama and Florida State. The only decent offense that Alabama contained was Ole Miss.

I do know they had one of the best dlines in the nation. They blew up AU's oline like no other team did all last season.

You back already with those #s for the ala/aub and aub/fsu games?

For starters, Alabama had a better defense. Alabama gave up 13.9 points per game playing an SEC schedule, not a panzy-arse ACC schedule. Finally, my total reference was to how FSU made their halftime adjustments with a good NG and allowed Auburn just 10 points in the 2nd half.
I guess AUs defense was good, because bama only scored 7 points in the second half. That came off a 99 yard pass.

C'mon...at least Duke some credit. That was a strong offense.
