Will there be a next generation of college sports fans?

The current generation puts up with a gigantic mountain of shite in college sports for one reason only, we have an built up an entire lifetime of irrational sentimental attachment to our school. Without that tether, any sane person would clearly just walk from the complete shite show it has become.
Is that same level of attachment being cultivated today?
There won't even be any star players for kids to idolize because the entire roster is different every year.

It will morph, I think. My kids are HUGE fans of the local D2 school and their high school. The do Razorback stuff for my sake because they know I'm a fan. But they don't initiate it the way they do with their D2 fandom. I don't watch NFL, so I'm not sure they even know the NFL exists.
I think it gets very local as a reaction against how the Internet has made everything else a bland sameness
