I know nothing about that team. Educate me! I hear they were pissed about playing UK and thought they deserved a better matchup.

Basketball yes. Football, that's a tough question. Honestly, it would be a pretty good game and Id watch it. Id hope Kentucky took care of business.

I live in the state, grew up going to Illini games, but really started following football closely when I lived in Arkansas.

Its not the same up here as it is in the south. People don't care as much. And usually its hard core alums that really follow Illinois or NW.

Northwestern finished second in the Big 10 - West at 7-2, the exact same record as Michigan State who finished third in the Big 10 - East. Northwestern beat Michigan State 39-31 head to head in their regular season match up.

Michigan State (9-3) will play Washington State (9-3) in San Diego in the Holiday Bowl. Northwestern (9-3) will play Kentucky (7-5) in Nashville in the Music City Bowl. Northwestern has a right to be pissed.

Talent and coaching should be about the same though honestly, Id actually assume Kentucky has the better roster just because they are an SEC team and NorthWestern is a private school.

Scrappy, extremely well coached team similar to their Football counterpart. Coach is a Duke product and seen as a potential candidate for the job when Coach K leaves.

We will see. Seems like most of are problems have been mental. I know we're not the greatest team out there but we have frequently played well below our potential.

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking about these two football powerhouses.

Where in Illinois did you live/grow up? I ask because I'm looking to move and Marion/Carbondale is an option and I've really liked that area from the few times I've stopped in.

That's a growing area and has nice towns down there. I live in East Central IL. Middle of nowhere, but 2 hrs from Stl, 2 hrs from Indy and 4 hrs south of the place that everyone thinks is Illinois.

I would expect Northwestern to win. I think on paper they are the better team. Their record shows that.

That explains going to the UofI games. I'm sorry.

Haha. They're not what they were, but I do miss the runner up season back in the early 2000's and always playing OSU pretty hard in football.

But yes Champaign is 45 mins away and it's not a bad town and has the most stuff that's closest. Springfield has quite a bit of stuff, but it's a bit further, not by much, but just so used to Champaign.

I was last living in Jacksonville NC, so depending on how you look at it, it's not that bad. But I do miss the coast and beaches.

Oh I know, I grew up a UW fan. I remember the older Illinois teams, they're a ghost of what they once were. I personally really like the Midwest and towns just a little smaller than Champaign. I just can't do Central Illinois or Iowa- too flat and open for me.

Yeah lots of corps ground around here, fields and nothing. Just the place I grew up, military for 10+ yrs, and moved back to be around family for the kids.

I'm a pretty easy going guy, but not much to do around here. Spend time on here because I don't watch TV and have a pretty good thing going on getting paid to go to school. So I do have down time and like to talk some shite on here.
