Is dareus the least productive (in college) top-10 player of all time? i feel like he's being drafted purely off of potential..

At the same time though, only 1 of them was drafted in the 1st 3 rounds if drafted at all, you can't really slip that by a recruit.
Most of those guys wouldn't even be on NFL rosters without having played for Saban. Alabama was devoid of defensive line depth beyond those three, when Saban arrived. We're just now seeing defensive linemen on Alabama's roster than are draft eligible.

Dareus will add a 1st Rounder, but that still isn't enough consistency IMO...
Again, the same argument. We have been fairly young on the defensive line, outside of the few that Saban originally inherited in 2007.

Top 5 draft pick.. probably.

...and the prospects Alabama pursues? Lots of negative recruiting with defensive linemen that Alabama targets.
Not unless Alabama quits trying to turn defensive ends into Jack linebacker.
Just let it go. You weren't getting Clowney anyway -- even if you did play him at his natural position.

seems like most people have dareus going #2 to teh broncos
and I'm sure whatever criticism you are worried about seems really important... but almost no one else seems worried about it IMO

The Cam number 1 talk is just Currrrilina trying to get Buffalo to trade up.
I thought Buffalo was all over Gabbert.

They are, thats why it isnt gonna work, and the Panthers will draft Marcel.

With the amount of 3-4 defenses in the NFL, where the Hell do you think they're going to end up at the next level.

He was just an example. Don't get so riled up.

It's always an argument near NSD.

Of course I am.

Dunno, I think Buffalo is supposedly most likely to take either Gabbert or Von Miller

Even so, the pitch "We'll get you in the NFL" isn't good enough anymore, now recruits want to be drafted in the top rounds and Bama hasn't shown enough consistency to convince a recruit.
If Bama can get around 4 DL drafted in the top 3 rounds, it might sooth the qualm...

Alabama has 3-4 guys that are top three round material over the next two draft classes. Chapman, Williams, and Square can all be drafted that high. Ed Stinson may soon make a name for himself.

It's a terrible argument because Bama plays with 4 down lineman about 90% of the time.
Jack linebacker is a fancy name for defensive end that will will stand up from time to time.
As far as tackles go, we actually have more opportunities to play since we play a nose, a DT, and a DT/DE in most sets.
Argument is moot and anybody with common sense or the ability to listen to our coaching staff would know that.

These are other factors people tend to overlook. When in nickel and dime, the Jack LB is in his "natural position".
