Why do I feel the need to defend Auburn? Do you just refuse to pay attention or is it something you struggle with?
I just don't let message boards and posters get to me. I feel there is no logical reason to defend against flames and message board innuendo. Does your defense change opinions? No, so just let your fingers rest and watch the rantards go at it

Just to clear up some things. This is how it was done when I was there and probably how it is still done for the student workers, ar far as pay checks.
You are paid Bi-Weekly, but you submit your hours to your boss/supervisor, then you get paid for said hours. if your boss is out of the office on the day or you are not there as well, you submit them for the next time they are due. They don't hold paychecks
Thanks, that clears it up. I kept getting hung up on the "holding paychecks". I've never heard of a business doing that, and I work in the accounting world, and have done a lot of payroll work before.

How about Brooks writing an article back it up with more than some papers with names on them showing some figures.
I don't need to prove anything as no one on here can bring penalties or sanctions. I just find it humorous that so many continue to fling allegations, theories, or what ifs and than by the 2nd page of a thread it becomes facts...

This is the difference between a blogger with no editor and no filter vs a reputable news organization.
Brooks provides zero proof that this girl gets paid for anything other than being a university employee, but he insinuates that she does.
Facebook friends does not equal proof. Getting a paycheck in the same time period that a recruit commits does not equal proof, especially when she has a documented history of being every 2 weeks. Unusual is getting a paycheck only when a recruit commits.

I don't really care either way, but unless you were the person authorizing the payments, then you don't know specifically what they were being paid for. Seems to me that if you are going to 'volunteer' for an 'unpaid' position within the AD, then you shouldn't be allowed to have a paid position within the very same department, as it opens up a very slippery slope. Again, I'm not saying that anything illegal has taken place, so spare me with your 'tin foil hat' comments - but if you, as an AU fan, can't see how this doesn't look weird, then you need to take of the blue/orange glasses.
So a member of the SGA shouldn't be able to have an on campus job? This makes no sense. I guess I agree that it opens you up for accusations but if those accusations take partial truths and weld them together to create a picture of innuendo, they probably aren't founded in anything.

Yeah.. I really don't see what the big story here is. He throws shite against the wall, and fans flock to his page to argue or agree with him.. He doesn't give a shite about the story, or if this is really that unusual. He just wants more hits on his site.
I'm all for automatic bans for posting any SBB article.

Can any of you Aubbies read a complete thought instead of taking just bits and pieces?

and what if you had the paid position in the dept before you became a "volunteer"? Are you not allowed to volunteer, or should you be forced to give up your job?
Not disagreeing with you, because in a perfect world this might very well be the case, but nothing is ever perfect.

So? Does that stop you from thinking for yourself?
The fact is they, along with hundreds, if not thousands, of other students, are receiving a check from Auburn University for either full-time work, part-time work, or for an internship. Graduate-assistants, coffee-shop workers, and secretaries whose only job is to answer the phone will all be listed on Auburn's public records.
That is the only fact.
But because they volunteer to help with the football program while also receiving a check, then something dirty is going on?
Plausible? Yes.
Logical? No.

Brooks offers pay to women who have ‘what he’s looking for’
June 21, 2011 — Internet blogger and certified muckraker Brooks Melchior of Sports by Brooks fame (infamy?) built his site traffic at the outset by approaching random women on the street and soliciting them to appear in photos on his blog.
When he first stepped out onto the world wide web Brooks was characterized as “desperate to build traffic” and he was reduced to trolling the streets in Southern California looking for pretty girls. His intent was enticing them to provide free titillation to the pages of his site.
According to a 2008 article in LA Weekly, Melchior would approach busty strangers on the street, hand them a business card and attempt to cajole them into appearing at sports trivia events he hosted at bars. These innocent young women would then be photographed and their likenesses (and cleavage) used on the pages of his website in a cheap effort to attract male readers to his TMZ-style, facts optional sports related musings.
