He's a kicker, but off the top of my head, I think the Raiders were also the last team to take a punter in the first round when they got Ray Guy back in the 70s.

First round?

Third round? We'll see how the Jaguars punter settles in.

His numbers are skewed because takes so many 60 yard field goals. Plus before they moved up the kickoff he would put in the back of the end zon.

Russell Erxleben a punter and kicker from Texas was grabbed by the Saints with the 11th overall pick in 1979

ETA I think Erxleben was the third QB on the Longhorns depth chart the idea being New Orleans also got an emergeny QB in the deal

I can't get the numbers on 60+ but I can on 50+

He has only attempted more than 5+ fg's of 50 or longer in:

'06, '07, '09, '10, '11

ok? and? That doesn't make someone a great K.

You are an idiot. As a Raiders fan, I am probably happier about Seabass as first rounder than any of the others that I can think of off the top of my head head.

Yes having a kicker that gives you touchback after touchback for 15 years is pretty valuable.

hell no. no-one will waste a first round pick on a punter.

I normally would agree, but he can do things punting a football that most of us have ever seen. Its not a reach to say he has a impact on a game like no punter since Ray Guy. The thing is if he continues like he is now, he will be head and shoulders above Guy.
