They just need to start picking up recruiting in Big 12 and Big 10 states. Kentucky has a good class going so far from picking up players in Ohio.

The lure of playing in the SEC is huge now to recruits.

We've been getting some recruits out of the StL area the last few years and we've had some success in the Tulsa area. I'm pretty sure Garrick McGee helped us out getting players over there.

I'm pretty sure that's the exact opposite of what happened when we had Nutt
A side from a few years Arkansas didn't have alot of talent under Nutt and even then it was a few offense stars. Nutt won 61% of his games there to 67% of Petrinos. Neither one was loaded with talent or had a great defense.

Their only chance is to hire a coach that doesn't rely on defense and can win on offensive play-calling with little talent. That is why they have only been good when they have coaches like Petrino and Nutt since being in the SEC

Never post again you goddamn retard.

The 06 team gave up only about 18 ppg(and that's counting the 50 that USCw put up on us). We had arguably the best SEC backfield ever in 07 and Nutt managed to only win 8 games.

Wouldn't a good way to do this would say, hey Sooners, hey Cowpokes! You wanna alternate a home and home for ten years? Hey Ohio State and Michigan, same deal?

Wouldn't that be a great way to up your exposure in those states?

I mean, how many players does Arkansas currently get out of Jenks/Union? I don't get why they aren't playing an Oklahoma school every year, and if the Sooners/Pokes aren't game, why isn't the Golden Hurricane on the docket every single year?

I mean they are close enough to talent filled states for that to not really matter.

We already focus on Texas and play a game in the state just about every year. Also we've played Tulsa about 80 times in our history(more than any other opponent).

If that was all that mattered, Ole Miss and State would be powers. Proximity isn't the only thing that matters.

I'm saying go bigger. Be known nationally for taking on the toughest opponents in each conference. Make your schedule murderer's row.

Exactly. Coaching matters

The 06 team was Averaging 30 points a game. And 07 they gave 25 a game on defense. I never said Nutt was great but he is the second best coach Arkansas has had since joining the SEC.

I think it would be kinda cool to do that but I don't know if any FBS school wants to try that. SEC is rent a win central. Our schedule is pretty brutal this year though. I'm glad we scheduled those Mich games in a few years. Will be a good home/home series

It would be extremely cool.

For a lot them, it is a financial first decision, you would undoubtedly be losing money if you attempted this.

That's about to be a whole lot less important. 4 team playoff, which might move to 8... the SEC Champ is getting in regardless of the conference gauntlet. And if you aren't conference champs, a win or two over a large conference champ? There is nothing more impressive on a resume.

The SEC is always brutal, yet 7 in a row is holding strong. Iron sharpens iron. Yes there will be years where the injury bug could hit.

Meh. There is a possibility for all those games to not be anywhere near as exciting as people think, especially from a national perspective. Now, three of those type of games a year? One, maybe two, shite maybe all three will be high profile.

The exact thing I said to start with. Arkansas's best chance is with an offensive coach that can win by outscoring opponents without relying on defense. Arkansas's state is low in talent most of the time and that makes it hard to build a loaded defense to win the games for you like Bama and LSU. Its not hard to find a RB that is good but you can't sit and run the ball if your defense is giving up points left and right without a great offensive playcaller.

Hopefully Texas A&M can play some more interesting teams OOC too. Sam Houston State and Rice don't really get the juices flowing
