What speaks "power house" more than being #1?
Multiple deep tournament runs, conference championships, etc.
I don't think an occasional regular season high ranking deems a team worthy of being described as a powerhouse.
I think Pearl is going to be very successful at Auburn eventually. I just don't agree with the powerhouse assessment.

They have an all time losing record. In 2012, the price to Auburn per basketball win was over $890,000, worst out of 344 teams. Bruce has a lot of work to do. Odds he'll do it the right way?

Next to zero but that's NCAA basketball too - dirtier than football ever dreamed of being. I expect he'll keep any misdeeds minor even what he went down for was minor.
While Auburn doesn't have a lot to lean on to grab decent recruits, the tradition, facilities, and arena aren't very impressive, even without cheating, Pearl, much like Jones, has an excitement that's contagious. Recruits want to play for a guy like that.

Nothing at all wrong with the facilities. The only argument that can be made against the arena is it's size.

I wish the Bama fan who thinks that they're second behind UK all-time in basketball would show up.

There's nothing wrong with bball facilities for most SEC schools and many are better than even a lot of good basketball schools (some of which are way better history and tradition wise, minus UK which is virtually untouchable - they'd draw 5* with a grass farm style practice court and net-less hoop) but they don't compare to a few others. That's what I mean (no knock against Aubie as like you say they're good even compared to a lot of better basketball schools). However, if a kid checks out Auburn and UT he's going to be blown away at the difference in facilities. UK's are up there too. Again that doesn't make Auburn's bad - they're actually good compared to the majority, even good basketball schools, but I think for those of us not named UK we need every edge we can get in recruiting.
If he has some success, expect Pearl to start pushing hard for upgrades to your basketball facilities.

Better question. Why do you care who hates your coach? I love that y'all hate Bert. The tears and whining will only be sweeter when he beats dat arse.

A small facility can handle and even promote a powerhouse program.
Auburn under Pearl = Duke under Krzyzewski

beatbammer, I'm talking bout the practice facilities more than the arena and explained what I meant in terms of how big a draw that can be with recruits (that's where they spend most of their time and wow factor helps).

Not really sure what there is to upgrade. We just put 92 million into basketball facilities a few years ago.

I think it's the opposite. They love Bruce Pearl and pissed Auburn has him...
As it should be...

And your logic would prove that Auburn is jealous of the Hogs having Bielema.... So you might wanna slow your roll.

Who the frick is a Bielema?

While it's cute to say now, and probably has a tinge of truth to it, it's really only a matter of time before that becomes a distant memory. When it comes to AU, you can't help but absorb and fall in love with it. You hear about family and small town welcoming town and its the absolute truth. 2 years from now, Pearl is gonna be saying Knoxville is the shithole we all know it to be.

Did they get that one area fixed?
You know, the one where there is a fricking beam blocking like, 4 seats? WTF?

You're a fool if you believe that. Pearl isn't that kinda guy. He's a lot of things but he's not that. Stop being so goddamned sensitive - you'll understand what I'm saying about Pearl later.
Pearl's also the kind of guy who can be both a VFL and still give every bit of himself to AU, pump up the bball love, and connect to people there and if he sticks around I expect he'll love AU too. That's just who he is.
