People wanted an expanded field. Indiana, Georgia, Texas Tech and Ohio State is a pretty compelling field. But people wanted more teams to get a chance. This is what you get. 4 seemed like a good number, even though it burned us in 2023 and even then the first round produced a lot of duds.
