Houston Nutt has made a career of winning games like this (e.g. #4 Florida in 2008, # 1 LSU in 2007, and, of course, against #3 Auburn in 2006).

He's certainly due for one of his huge trademark upsets, and he doesn't have many games left to pull one off in.

Auburn was ranked #2 at the time.

All of those games were on the road as well...

VHS holds what 55k? There will be at least 10-15k AU fans there. How loud can 40k really get? Ga Tech loud?

If you bring 10k then it will be 63k in VHS. We had 56k when vandy brought 200 total fans to an 11am game. I'd expect a higher attendance for #1 team at 5pm

Either way I get your point, it's not going to be tiger stadium, but it should be a good enviroment and if we're still in the game when the sun goes down it be decent noise

This. Everyone here thinks it's going to be a home game for AU

Ole Miss is not a hostile environment, but neither is Bryant Denny.

Go count up the win-loss numbers for Bama and LSU at Baton Rouge.

Ole Miss is it's own worst enemy - losing the TO battle against weaker competition, giving up 60+ yard plays on 3rd and long, giving up punt return TDs and pick 6s, fumbling at the opponent's 5 yard line in the 4th quarter, dropping sure INTs, dropping easy TD passes.

All signs of a bad football team.

I've watched plenty of games like this.

I concur, but at least we have potential to pull off an upset, unlike some teams of similar ilk.

If your defense finally shows up for a game and someone takes the gun away from the offense or at least shows them how to aim away from their feet, you have a chance...

Even Bama fans admit Bryant Denny is much quieter than it should be due to old people owning all the tickets in the lower levels.

yeah but those few of us being vocal get pretty loud.

I took the rankings from Wikipedia. Take it up with them.

Stadium reputations for noise are one of those myths that just keep getting spread around and eventually people start believing them. Another is the tailgating in the Grove, which is really no different than tailgating at, say, Alabama. Take all the gameday tents in Tuscaloosa and put them in an area the size of the Grove, and you'd have the exact same thing. Fortunately for us, our quad is bigger.

Anyway, though, you're being an idiot if you think a 101,000-seat stadium is not a hostile environment. Tiger Stadium may be louder than BDS at times, but the reverse is also true. If there's any substance to these myths, it's likely more a result of the stadium acoustics than something as arbitrary as the average age of attending fans.

And, with the new upper deck addition, I've heard many people say the stadium seems considerably louder during the big moments, because less noise is lost.

As much as I hate Auburn and as much as I hate Ole Miss, I'm glad to see an SEC team on top of the standings. Auburn just doesn't need to overlook them fancy boys from Oxford. If they do, the curse continues.
