Why is Michael Oher's story getting more pub than Rolando McClain?

Honest question? We already know that Michael Oher's "movie story" is a little more glamorous than what really happened. Now Oher is writing his own book and so are the Tuohys. McClain's story is just as tragic and sad. Oher was homeless for a short time and McClain's mom tried to kill him. Where are the books and movies about Rolando?

I guess that's my point. Why all the shite for Oher? His story is one of thousands around the country in football.

Whats the story on Jimmy Graham? Other than that he is the only redheaded black guy I have ever seen in my life.

Patrick Willis deserves a story as well.

He raised something like 7 of his brothers and sisters at age 13.

Mother was a druggie and father was a molester.

Marketing? Public relations?

I know there are some people out there that are trying to get a Brandon Burlsworth movie made.

Jeez...talk about a rough childhood. I wonder how old Willis was when he first beat the shite out of his dad.

Onterio Mccallebb as well. Mom was a crack head. Homeless for 3 months. Lived with multiple families. Lots of these kids have it tough. The tueyes (sp) just saw it as an oppotunity.

Oh yeah, I forgot about him. He's up there too. Where's his Oscar nominated movie?

I want to say 15 or something.

Tons of youtube videos about him. Only positive think I've ever seen Jim Rome do was a Patrick Willis bit.

Here is a piece of the article....
quote:

Try as he may, there is no blocking out the memory of him falling asleep in the backseat of his mother’s car when he was 11 years old, then waking up at a group home to find his mother signing the papers to give him away, his older sister crying and yelling for his mother not to do it. There’s no forgetting his mother leaving after dropping off his clothes and belongings in a pair of garbage bags. Or the picture etched in his mind of him trying not to cry that night as he stayed in a room with two boys who were both at least two years older. Or how he was beaten again and again by the other boys, all of them older and some well on their way to delinquency.

Graham Story

Edit: I for one will be pulling for the guy to make it with the Saints big time more so now....

Its because he was adopted by a white family.

Probably. I think the Tuohys probably milked Oher's story for all it's worth. Many Ole Miss fans tell stories of the mom that are very different than the way the movie portrayed her.

The Thuoy's (sp?) having constant media exposure through the dad probably did them tons of good towards getting that story told.
