re: Why does the Rant hate T.J. Yeldon so much?

Yeldon is electric in the open field and is a threat to take it the distance every time he touches the ball but I can think of a lot of backs I would rather have on the goal line or on 3rd and short situations.

Phil Steele just released his Preseason All-America list with Yeldon on the 2nd team putting him in the top 4 RB's nationally.
He was on the 1st team of Sporting News Preseason All-America team with Todd Gurley. LINK
CBSsports had Yeldon as their 3rd RB off the board in thier first 2015 mock draft. LINK
Athlon Sports has Yeldon as their 2nd best running back in 2015. LINK
NFL.com writer Bryan Fischer actually took Yeldon as the 1st running back taken in a college football fantasy draft for all college players. Gurley was taken with the next pick. LINK
NFL Draft Geek has Yeldon as the #2 RB in the country for next season. LINK
NFL Futures has Yeldon rated as their #3 RB. LINK
And you keep claiming that he is as good or better than Todd Gurley. yet in every link you posted Gurley was ranked higher, right?
If you want to claim your links back up your claims, then you must admit that Gurley is the better back because all of your links say so.
Don't run from this post. Admit it. Gurley is the better running back.

Good thing Gurley doesn't have an outstanding backup.
Marshall, Chubb, Michel. All 5*. Nope. No outstanding back ups.

Without a totally healthy Todd Gurley Georgia might not break .500.
Wow. We did last year. And we have a LOT more depth at RB this year. Why do you think this?

Fumbling issues can be fixed by hard work and coaching.
Then why does Yeldon still fumble after two years at Alabama?
quote:
Being injury prone,not so much.
Injury prone? How many injuries has Gurley had in his career? Do you know? An injury would be damaging to anybody's draft prospects...but, yes, if Gurley gets injured this year, he might be looked at as injury prone. But certainly NOT based on one injury from last season. Especially one that was more of a fluke than anything.

And it is possible he would be at EVERY SEC school.
Not at Georgia.

That's the facts. Like it or not.
No. They are not. See above about starting at every SEC school.

Who are the better RB's? Gurley is the only one I'd concede...maybe Gordon.
I am glad you are finally conceding to Gurley. However, almost your entire OP talked about Gurley.

Really? A new QB and Marshall coming off injury.
Let Gurley get hurt and WHO do you turn to for yards? If anything your statement about Cooper was far closer to short bus material.
And a whole lot more depth. If you have confidence in Henry (and you should) then why can't we have confidence in Michel and Chubb? two 5*?
He was wrong with the Cooper comment (as he admitted), however you were wrong more with your .500 comment if Gurley gets hurt.

Sure they have a Todd Gurley all ready to go. If Gurley goes down Georgia is done. If he is gimpy like last year Georgia is finished. Where will the yards come from?
Michel, Chubb, Marshall? All three were 5* running backs. Do you think Alabama is the only school with depth? If you don't know anything about our team, don't post as if you do.

'm so confused by UGA fans when it comes to Gurley.
Half of you guys argue that he is not injury prone and the he was only gone for three games.
The other half argue that he was battling injury all year and couln't stay healthy at all.
One injury that was severe and lasted most of the season. That makes him injury "prone"?
Apparently you don't understand what "prone" means.
prone (pro?n)
adj.
1. having a natural tendency toward something; disposed; liable: prone to anger.
One injury that lasts awhile does not make one prone. The injury could have been described as chronic.
chron·ic (krnk)
adj.
Of long duration.
Perhaps you are confused?

Overzealous, yes, but I would not admit that it was flat wrong. If Cooper was to go down before the year started with an ACL (I certainly hope he doesn't, it would only cheapen the conference - plus, I don't wish injury upon anybody.), I say Bama would have a hard time reaching 10 wins and 8-4 would be a real possibility.
Coker could be a world beater and make that prediction wrong, but any team with competent CBs could put an extra safety in the box on every 1st and 2nd down and make Coker prove it. Bama doesn't have the OL this year that can withstand that kind of extra attention. If it was 2012, sure, but this year's OL would have to improve dramatically to reach 2012 levels.

Oh I get it, but who cares? Anyone who has been on this site any amount of time knows that no SEC fanbase is going to ball wash a player on another team. It doesn't happen. If you think Yeldon is great, fantastic. Think that, but don't expect anyone else - including some Bama fans - to agree.

Yeldon is now the 3rd best RB on his own team, so no, I don't think he's top 3 nationally.

Because he's a chronic fumbler who fumbles at critical moments in big games?
