Now this is an honest answer and not just some stupid reply. A lot of you posters could learn from this guy.

I don't hate Alabama. They usually have stout defenses and a solid running game. I appreciate the way they play the game.

But I can't stand the bandwagon Bama fans. Most of them can't name half of the starters on the team. I'm talking about the drunk fricks down at all the bars downtown watching the game though They invade most of the bars I like to frequent (Pat's, Heroes, The Bike Shop) in Mobile. They usually don't know shite about the other team either and they get pissy if the other team does something small like get a first down. Its as if Bama shouldn't ever allow anything bad to happen. Their expectations are laughable. Most of guys I work with down at the State Docks are all Bama fans but couldn't care less about any other Bama sport besides football but they will be the first to admit it and don't have qualms about it.

Occasionally I will run into an actual Alabama alum and they are always class acts.

I like your post...and concur.

Just to add a little something...I think pretty much all fanbases are very prideful during the championship year. It's human nature...we are #1...you're not...see my t-shirt and bumper sticker.

Me personally, I always enjoy and gravitate to fans that are still humbled when their teams are currently on top. They know the view from the mountaintop is sweet....but short. Just savor the moment.

In all honesty, I respect and admire the guy at the bar with his Ole Miss or Kentucky jersey on watching the game week in/week out....as opposed to a BAMA fan who's at the bar...and "thinks his shite doesn't stink"....

Let's be honest. This could be a description of the LSU fan base as well.

The SEC is particularly bad at this moment in time. If I wasn't an LSU fan, I would find it amusing and would be pulling for an A&M v Mizzou title game this year.

And yet, Bama fans go that extra step. Bama fans just try harder to be disliked. Kudos on your success....(and here, I'm not referring to Tahd fans claiming a co-championship with Rome over Carthage in 146 b.c.e.)

I'd be lying if I said I've never placed any bets on Bama, I've rooted for them several times. Selfish reasons only of course

The stereotypical Alabama sidewalk fan would be the equivalent of if you took your average uneducated Ole Miss fan and gave them 9 national titles to brag about. Then add a fierce rivalry with State winning several SEC titles and a natty to make them feel the need to brag. It's the perfect mixture of stupid and success and it gives you this:
