You really don't think tradition matters in CFB in regards to recruiting?

it is way down the list of things that matter

otherwise notre dame would always be near the top of the list instead of struggling to find guys that want to go there

Saban goes to LSU - LSU shoots to the top of the SEC recruiting heap. Mack Brown goes to Texas - Texas starts out recruiting OU, Nebraska, etc

It is mostly about the guy doing your recruiting and the location of the school IMO

In case you haven't noticed, football is a religion in the South.

And I would say that will always be easier to recruit at Texas, Alabama, OSU, USC, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, etc.

Those programs don't stay down for long. Shula constantly got top 20 recruiting clases at Alabama (better than Arky is getting now with Petrino) and he wasn't a good coach or recruiter.

And LSU/Texas were getting plenty of good recruits before Saban/Brown showed up.

The real question is why isnt Arky int hat group. You have absolutely no in state competition to compete with.

not nearly the same level. they got some good players but Saban/Brown took it to the top level. And LSU in the years before Dinardo had some just bad years of recruiting when the power schools from other conferences came in and took what they wanted.

Lower education and less teeth?

Interesting that you should say that, as the following schools in those states are all considered higher quality academic institutions than Arkansas:

Texas (Rice, Texas, A&M, SMU, Baylor, TCU)
Georgia (Georgia Tech, Georgia)
Florida (Florida, Miami, Florida State)
Alabama (Alabama, Auburn)
Louisiana (Tulane, LSU)

Damn, Arkansas must be an awful school if FSU, and LSU are better.

the real answer to the op's question is purely anthropological.

population genetics due to natural selection.
