Too bad he went to Ole Miss law school and if most of America had to guess, they'd probably say he went to Ole Miss. Nice job there.

Don't worry, they don't actually believe that. It's just their coping mechanism. When you suck at everything and have the racially devisive history that Ole Myth has you have to grasp at something I guess.

Because everyone from state is from Mississippi (people's school) and most people I know from Mississippi have never left therefore they don't know about any of these other schools with state in their name.

I think this is actually the correct answer.

You didn't ask the question name one MSU alumni that went to State but America thinks he went to OM did you?

He did go to Ole Miss, no one has to "think" anything.

Did you abbreviate abbreviated?

This. I think "State" fans think it makes their college name sound better? I think most people think Mississippi is considered a dumb state and too long of a name hence UM referred to as Ole Miss and MSU to State to make it sound better.

This is a stupid thread. You wouldn't walk up to a guy from Michigan or a guy from New York and talk his ear off about "State." He won't have a clue about what you're talking about. He probably hasn't heard of or doesn't care about Mississippi State.
In Mississippi, Mississippi State is the only "State." When you talk about "State," everyone knows you are referring to Miss State, except for a small subset of people who might think you're referring to Delta State. Even in terms of the SEC, most people know you're referring to Mississippi State when you say "State."
As far as the whole of the SEC, I don't know how many people say "State" vs MSU vs Miss State, but I've heard it all three ways. No matter which way the name is written, it's easy to figure out what school they're referring to. I don't know about inside Louisiana, but I've never heard anyone refer to LSU as "State;" so that is a definite non-issue.

There are four pages of bickering, and the answer is simply, because it's easier, and people in the area know who you are talking about when you say state. Analysts on tv even do it when talking SEC football. Durrrrrr

But Grisham went to State first. This makes him a State alumni just like it makes him an Ole Myth alum for going to Vo Tech in Oxford.

Prettymuch everything you said here is bullshite.
Ole Miss Fundraising
MSU fundraising
We graduate more students, who make more money on average, and give back to the university at a greater percentage. All that is public record. That kills your theory on better jobs doesn't it?
Alumni smack? Seriously? 2 names: Seal and Mize. IDGAF about name recognition. They both give more to MSU than any alumni in OM history. We've won 3 of the last 4 Miss Mississippi's.
Prestige? REALLLYYYYY
There is literally no more ways we can possibly kick your arse. We beat you in everything now. Get used to it.

This isn't statistically accurate as it doesn't include the 10s of millions given to the "TSUN Recruit Buy-off Fund".
