It’s not as much Arkansas “fans” as it is the GOBN and PTB wanting to push their influence with this hire.
It’s asinine to hire a HC without an AD but I wouldn’t put it past this GOBN back in power.

Because he's Auburn's sloppy seconds and a terrible coach obviously on the down slope of his career.
We dumb n poor, cain't afford nothin gud.

Are we the only SEC school where the 1960s fooball-crazy good ole baws went on to become multi-millionaires and billionaires?
It's like it's a foreign concept to everybody else in the league.

Yep.

They have dreams of playing for a league title some day.

It's both helped and hurt us tremendously. We've had every chance and resource, but the GOBN couldn't get out of their own way much of the time. Now it looks like they're coming back with a vengeance and I'm really hoping they don't frick this up just to prove a that Arkansas is a job for Arkansas boys.

This is true. We've had the $$$$ to keep up with anybody in the country spending-wise. That, unfortunately, comes with several big egos always trying to out big-dick each other and exert their will.

Gus is probably tired of the feast or famine nature of Auburn football...even though he is somewhat responsible for this due to lack of player development and relying on transfers.
And this is what makes our fans idiots. Name me a quarterback that Gus has recruited and develop.

I think its funny that fans think that "the prestige" of their said program is all a coach thinks about when he takes a job.
When you're getting paid in the multi-millions you consider a number of factors beyond that...like the stability of the job, where the job is, quality of life...
Come on now.

Nick Marshall was a better QB the day he left than when he came.
Sean White got better and maximized limited ability.
JS is getting better.
Malik Willis is a 3 star project who is also getting better.
He missed some, but all coaches do. Unfortunately with his schedule he can't afford to miss.

Maybe 50% of the fanbase is solidly behind wanting Gus, if that many.
I'd prefer Norvell, and that seems to be the overwhelming majority over at woopig dot net.

If you think Arkansas is anywhere close to auburn in football, you are fooling yourself.
Gus has family in ark and so does his wife, it’s his dream job, he is a high school legend, he will go home.

Over time, Gus has proven he can make a smart DC hire and field a good defense, and develop a QB to at least some degree. He deserves some credit.
But depending on how his next two games play out, he'll also have shown nothing but mediocre results with the exception of his first year aided by two miracle plays. Auburn is a better football gig than Arkansas just because of how much easier it is to recruit in that area. He shouldn't be failing to win 10+ games so often if he's really a good coach. He hasn't shown he's good enough for us to try and poach. If he's honestly being considered, it's almost entirely because he's from Springdale, which is ridiculous.
