Why did UGA cancel the OU series but Bama did not cancel the Texas series?

UGA was supposed to play OU this upcoming season but canceled due to them joining the SEC. Meanwhile, Bama is still playing Texas.

Not to sit here and defend Bama but UGA did not have to cancel this or is there a legit reason I am missing?

Because it was also next year. Bama had already played one of their games vs Texas I believe.

The SEC cancelled it based on how it would have made the GA/OU series be a home and home for OU, leaving GA with no home game.

Think Auburn vs. GA back in 2011 where GA had to have 2 away games with Auburn as A&M and Mizz were coming into the conference.

They are avoiding that scenario again

Because Bama can complete their series with Texas in 23 before they join in 24

UGA and OU would not have been able to complete their series unless UGA decided to play it anyway without the return game since OU will be in SEC by the time the return game would have come up

LSU and OU canceled their home and home but it was gonna be after they joined anyway for both games

Check home and home dates, and post what you find. Can you do that?

Because 2031 is later than 2023.
