Furthermore, Drew Brees might not be so great without Payton or someone comparable. Let's not forget, Miami wasn't the first or second franchise to pass on Drew Brees.

Yep the Saints were able to consistently turn under the radar receivers into stars. I think it had a lot to do with coaching

How come Louisiana is the only Southern state that's losing population?

Why are people getting out of there?

Saban leaves the state regardless of the Dolphins hire.

He disagrees with you...

NFL called.

This... From what he says, he loved LSU(as much as Saban could love a school)..But the NFL came calling.. He probably wanted to go back to LSU but they had a coach... As fate would have it Bama desperately needed an elite coach and Mal Moore through everything at him to take the job... He had doubts about it because he knew he'd receive backlash from LSU and Miami Dolphin fans... He finally caved because he didn't like being an NFL coach and realized that college was the best place for him..

With that said, IMO, he is very happy to be at Bama... He found a place that gave him an almost unlimited amount of resources, is a blue-blood school and he stated that the support he received, from Alabama, was second to none.. He was BLOWN AWAY with the turnout for the first A-Day game and realized that he could do something special at Bama...

I think he would have had similar success at LSU but it wasn't to be... It's a shame that most of the LSU fanbase treated the guy like shite because they were so hurt by his decision.. He brought their program from the gutter and left it in better condition that at any time in their history..

Fortunately for Bama, he is so entrenched and won't be leaving any time soon.. It's been a match made in heaven (for Bama anyway)..

What bearing does that have on the desirability of the job? It's arguably the best one in the SEC

Bama will have to transition from the Saban era at some point
Let's see if they can sustain it through two different coaches like LSU has

You sound like a damn aggy. None of what you posted is relevant to LSU football being the power that it is.

Do you need a reminder that our last three coaches have all won natties? Obviously LA's issues don't encumber LSU football...at all.

Seems like since GA is such a utopia, UGA would be swimming in natties. Oh, wait...

Given TX's massive population growth, they must be home to several CFB powerhouses, right?

Because Saban has multiple business interest outside of CFB in Alabama and N.
Georgia and those same opportunities wouldn't be same in state with such a poor economy.

Saban always has been a big picture and ambitious guy.

Exactly or maybe takes the Texas job.

Saban has always hopped around and looked for better opportunities and opportunities
outside of CFB.

One fact, one opinion:

Opinion: Part of the allure of the NFL for Saban was his drive, I think, to see if he was as good or better than his friend and mentor Belicheck. I think the NFL was a very shiny and attractive lure but combine that with the drive of men as driven as Saban to test themselves against their teacher/mentor.

Fact: Saban called Bertman (LSU's Ath. Director) and asked to come back. This would have necessitated firing Miles who was kicking arse at that point. Skip had to point out how crazy this was to Saban. Skip is on record for this multiple times.

LSU is a better job than Texas. He would hate the atmosphere there too

False - he actually come back to BR quite a bit - as does Jimbo

I don't believe this at all.Saban spends his free time in the summer at Lake Burton or Boca Grande. What reason would Jimbo want to return other than recruiting?

His job is in Lawrence,KS.I suppose even Baton Rouge looks like a garden spot compared to that place.
