Because LSU didn’t have the luxury of playing in a shite conference like the Big 12

Last year OU celebrated the 70th anniversary of the last time they beat LSU.

Congrats!

you're exactly right.

From 1958 to Nick Saban's arrival at LSU they were a mediocre also ran in the SEC that were 6th in the conference in winning pct.

Nick Saban built the program so well that LSU is still benefiting from it, but in due time that will wane. Orgeron had that one great year with Brady and Burrow and immediately followed it with the worst follow up year for a title team in my lifetime.

No they weren't. They were behind Alabama, Tennesse, and Georgia (still are). In SEC titles, they were also behind those three schools and tied with Florida for 4th. All the success they've had the past 20 years hasn't really changed their "ranking" in winning percentage or SEC titles. They've made up a lot of ground, sure, and passed other teams in national titles. Just like y'all like to say LSU has been only good since Saban, I'll say to you the 1990s wasn't what LSU was like the entire 30 years prior either.

wrong answer. From 1958 to 2003 LSU was 6th in the conference in winning pct, behind

Alabama
Tennessee
Florida
Georgia
Auburn

I thought you meant all-time, not just in that arbitrary block of time. So they won 11 fewer games than Auburn and 14 fewer than UGA over a period of over 40 years? Going 25-41 from 1989-1994 didn't help. From 1959-1988, LSU had a higher winning % than Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee and had the same number of wins as Georgia (they had two more losses, one fewer tie, and played one more game). Alabama was the only SEC program firmly ahead of them.
LINK

Like I said, LSU's run from 1989-1999 isn't what they were the entire period of time from their natiuonal title in 1958 until 2000, but y'all sure do like to pretend they were

Oh ok.

The rank in the SEC doesn't improve (still 6th in the timeframe) but the winning pct and national rank aren't quite as good.

thanks for the correction

edit: oops. I was wrong. That does change the SEC team ranks. Now it puts LSU 7th in the SEC behind

Alabama
UT
UF
UGA
Auburn
Arkansas
LSU

Of course, Arkansas wasn't in the SEC for most of that time. At least OU and Tx aren't officially in the SEC yet, because that would put LSU 9th

Gee. I honestly never realized just how badly LSU struggled in this conference before Saban arrived there.

Don't really care about where LSU ranks 30-50 years ago to be honest. Figured you would want accurate numbers since you're so interested in it.

I see you glossed over the fact that LSU was T2nd in wins in the SEC from 1959-1988? Because that certainly wouldn't tie into this narrative you're trying to spin. LSU was really really bad for 11 years right before Saban got there. That was not their entire history for 40 years

If you want to see by decade, here you go

1960s
Alabama
Ole Miss
LSU
Florida
Tennessee
Auburn
Georgia

1970s
Alabama
LSU
Tennessee
Auburn
Ole Miss
Florida
Georgia

1980s
Georgia
Auburn
Alabama
Tennessee
Florida
LSU

1990s
Florida
Tennessee
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Ole Miss
Arkansas
LSU
