Is there a rule that says they have to sit out a game if ejected? For some reason, I thought there was. It may be a high school rule though.
The Flagrant 2 (which is what was called) only warrants an immediate ejection.
I think at the least the SEC needs to look at a one game suspension or something. Whether it had been a UK guy or not but I have a real issue with someone intentionally trying to hurt a player like that. Thankfully Davis came out okay.

And I'm on my phone so I can't find the link but apparently the following quote was in The Advocate today from Trent Johnson on the foul:
"I want to look at the tape, but I struggle with that kind of play. That ain't good. It's one thing to foul a kid hard in the confines of the game going to the basket or whatever, but bottom line is you can't get frustrated just because he's handling your tail and you can't guard him. That's not what we're about."
I'd like to see Johnson take a stronger approach to it.

He wasn't going for the ball. There'd be only one other reason for that kind of action on a basketball court. I don't see making that comment as overboard at all.

Thanks. I wasn't sure.

I agree, an ejection should warrant a suspension of at least one game.

All flagrant fouls involve excessive and unnecessary contact. They're obviously more likely to injure a player but has nothing to do with intent to injure.
You're a Kentucky fan and I'm an LSU fan. We may both be biased, but I just didn't see intent to injure him.

Then we'll have to respectfully disagree. I played basketball long enough to know there's a big difference in just a hard, frustration foul (which is excessive but at least understandable) and wanting to hurt a player. White's foul yesterday was with the intent to injure. This wasn't just a shove or a smack across the face when going for the ball. This was a full on horse-collar esque tackle and probably one of the worst flagrants I've seen in awhile.
And it certainly doesn't help that the kid apparently has had issues like this before. I don't think it's representative of LSU as a team though. I do think you're wrong it thinking it was just a minor, but excessive foul.

for comparison, hickey's foul a little later on in the game was a perfect example of a good hard foul.
white's was just horrible

Are you insinuating that that type of foul is common in men's basketball?
Posted on 1/29/12 at 2:50 pm to busey
no i was making a sexist joke insinuating her opinion was invalid. I'm prepared for your knighting now sir.

Your point? I've also been on a men's sideline as a trainer. So I've seen plenty of the result of fouls like that yesterday that didn't go so well.
fricker.
fricker.

I agree with you, and I think CTJ might sit out White for a game or two, but there were some ( don't remember if it was in this thread or not) that wanted White to sit out the rest of the season, that's just insane

Kentucky has a great team. Its not fair they get to play with 6 men for extended periods. That eyebrow is worth at least 6 points.

I think the concern by some LSU fans were this is a pattern of behavior with White, so I don't believe that stemmed from just yeaterday's incident.
I don't think he should get a season based on just yesterday's incident.

That eyebrow was worth a can of whoop arse after the fact.

White would frick stick boy up in a fight FWIW... when it comes to actual basketball however. I think it was Jones who booted up to Malcolm at first and then was like eh nevermind

Posted on 1/29/12 at 3:05 pm to Elleshoe
I highly doubt Jones would be scared of him.
And I don't know what camera you were watching, but you could tell from their shoes that White was exited from the situation before anythign could even happen.
