The Spun reports that both were given the option to finish the season with their respective teams but both opted out.

If I can spin Mullen’s self-destructiveness into something more positive, I don’t think he loved the constant pressure of being a Big 6 coach. You could tell he checked-out after the Kentucky and LSU losses. I think he hates working at a place where losses like that can ruin a season.
