I hate Birmingham. Got lost looking for North 31st St and found myself on South 31st St at 2 in the morning. Big difference. Not at all the same road with 2 different ends.

Yeah, the population was about the same but the International Airport began a literal transformation.
Charlotte was great. A truer 'Southern City' than Atlanta (imo) but a truly Metropolitan place to live. If you move, worth a consideration.

It's just a game.. most of the people whose lives depend on their favorite teams W/L ratio probably didn't even attend the school a la Harvey Updike.

I almost did. Right out of college. Got a job with IBM right out of the gate. Some of the guys I worked with were based in Greenville, SC, some in Charlotte. I shopped for houses in Charlotte, and spent a lot of time there over the years because they have (had?) a big center there.
I loved it.

Charlotte has great downtown areas. I lived north by UNCC. The only problem really is traffic. 77/85 is horrendous.

"Birmingham is a train wreck"
Which is a shame really. The city is in a really pretty setting in a pretty area and has so much potential. Birmingham had 7 Fortune 500 headquarters as recently as 2000 which was more than a lot of much larger metro areas. Unfortunately, poor leadership from the mayor's office, city council, and county commission and the area's unwillingness to support any kind of public/private projects like MAPS holds the area back live and let live fun loving attitude. South LA, coastal stl AL, and the FL panhandle have that in common.
There is also something about the B'ham area and much of Alabama away from the coast/Mobile area that I couldn't put my finger on until it was described by someone on TD. There really is an uptight attitude in B'ham. It isn't unfriendly or rude, it just seems like people are uptight. I like Mobile because although it isn't nearly as nice or pretty as Bham it has a much more laid attitude much like the fun loving attitude you see in South LA, coastal MS, coastal AL, and the FL panhandle
Edit: Cell phone screwed up my post

When I lived in Alabama, it was Mobile and Eastern Shore. Mardi Gras and being close to redneck riviera helps.

So let me get this straight: an Ole Miss fan is telling Bama fans what life is like being a Bama fan? And we're the simple-minded fools!?
I wish there was capital punishment for stupidity. This joker would've been gone years ago.

Well, you certainly didn't "get this straight."
I'm well aware that the majority of your fanbase doesn't balance football and real life very well. For you to call me stupid for recognizing the fact is pretty childish on your part. Then again, RMFT, right?
