Objectively UGA looks like the better team so I still think they win but given their fans have seen Bama crush their dreams I can understand the skepticism.

IF it happens again, and UGA somehow gets edged out of a CFP spot, I cannot imagine the melt in Athens.

We are rattled by the history of Georgia/Atlanta sports. Rarely do we ascend to the mountaintop and quite often we suffer a disastrous fall when we get within reach.

It doesn't matter who the other team will be that we will face in the SECCG and/or the playoff. We will be holding our breath for every. single. play.

Thus is the nature of our fandom

UGA is pretty much guaranteed a playoff spot regardless. They won’t lose against anyone remaining on their schedule. Their defense is putting up historic numbers, they’ve beaten every team by at least 3 scores outside of week 1, and have played half their schedule with a backup QB who won’t even get invited to an NFL camp next season. A loss to Bama in Atlanta will not keep a 12-1 team with their resume out of the playoff.

2017 NCG
2018 SECCG

Shouldn't be too difficult for an LSU fan to figure out.

It's been covered ad nauseum that it is not guaranteed given the current # of P5 teams in line to finish as Conf Champs with 1 loss or better + an undefeated Cincy Conf Champ.

Should they be, absolutely, IMO. Will they be without a Conf Champ is TBD.

That said, and just to play devils advocate for a moment, Wisconsin is also having a hell of a defensive year and surprisingly is edging out UGA in total defense through 8 games. But, anyone with any experience can see how special and dominant this year's UGA defense is playing. The last 2.5 mins of the first half of UF game is a perfect example of how they change the game for the UGA team in what was a tightly contested game until then.
