Kind of a tough question. Georgia fans are substantially more patient and passive with Richt. Alabama fans call for Nick's head after every loss DESPITE the fact that he has won them three titles. Richt won 10 games a lot and 2 SEC titles. So you'd think the pressure was more on him to step up and win this huge game, but somehow it's probably more on Saban. From fans that is. Neither is going to get fired by either University. Seems like the both have a life time pass.

I think the best answer is this. In the short term the pressure is on Saban, simply because Alabama has a loss, and another one pretty much ends any kind of championship hopes for this year. However, Nick Saban has already arrived he knows he is regarded as one of the best football coaches of all time, and on a long term basis if he loses it will be a mere blip on the radar. With Richt, a loss has much bigger long term narrative that he can not nor will he ever get over the hump of winning it all.

Neither
If Bama loses Saban is going no where unless he choses
Richt loses and can still stay in the SEC East race, being a out of division SEC loss does not hurt as bad.
Things can happen in the SEC West and Bama with losing 2 games can still compete for the BCS championship and is the only team in the SEC that could make it into the final 4 with losing 2 games

signature wins for UGA under Richt:
2001 vs. (6)Tennessee
2005 SECCG vs. (3)LSU
2006 vs. (5)Auburn
2009 vs. (7)Georgia Tech, although it was a meaningless game as far as NC and bowl implications were concerned being it was an OOC game.
2012 vs. (3)Florida
Basically, Georgia doesn't have a stand out win, and for now, a win over Alabama would be the best of Richt's underachieving career. A win would end, for now, Saban's 7 year run of dominance, as it would be the first year in which at some point Alabama would not hold the #1 ranking.
Georgia's national championship hopes were crushed in 2002 and 2007. This would be their year if they win vs Bama, plus with more work to do, but a Bama win would be a huge boost going forward.

From an outsiders perspective I would say Richt for obvious reasons but due to the nature of the Gumps believing they should never lose, some would say Saban.

Pressure is on Saban. UGA fans have proven that Richt's level of success is acceptable. They'll accept the loss with some complaints, some "Richt doesn't win the big ones," etc.
Bama fans expect nothing less than perfection and will turn on Saban in an instant (short-term as it may be). That has to be tough pressure to deal with.

It has got to be Saban. Richt never has to worry about losing his job unless we have another 6-7 season. Bama fans actually expect greatness out of their coach so I could see the pressure turning up for Saban, but I don't think Saban will fake a heart attack and bolt to the Pac12 or something.
Richt is such a great christian man that he will still retain his job almost no matter what his record is. UGA fans rather have 9 win seasons than look for a different coach. Most uga fans believe that if we fire Richt then we can only hire a scrub coach
Last I checked, UGA is a top 10 program in the nation and most definitely could land a big time head coach, but I bet Richt retires before he gets fired.

One team gets angry when they go 3 years without a title the other doesn't. It is Saban.

Richt, he's the favorite.
It's Georgia's year and here's another opportunity for Georgia to make it really happen. Saban/Bama has got their Championship(s), but Richt/Georgia don't. Saban has got a young team and I'd think he's knows Bama could possibility lose 2-4 games. On the other hand, the stars are lining up for Georgia's chances. It's Georgia's time to take total advantage! That starts tonight with Bama and that's why Georgia has most of pressure. Plus, they're at home.
I believe Bama is bringing the wood tonight and I've always liked Bama with a chip-on-their-shoulder. Seems when Bama has something to prove, it usually works out. Hopefully Saban & Staff tapped into this fuel. While also letting our players uses their best assets, their great talent! Rather than hindering them with having a difficult scheme to think about every play. Saban and Staff need to stop making defensive schemes so difficult and let the talented boys loose. That 1/2 a second, to think about defensive assignments, is all an opponents OL needs to get the correct blocking-angle on your DL or LB. I prefer a defense that makes the offense react, instead of the other way around. Bama's young defense has got a shot at being championship worthy, but seems Saban & Staff should let them loose more. Plus, it sure seems Bama has got the best DL/LB push since Saban's arrival. Use thsi to cause total hell and get back to aggressiveness.
Should be a great game......

quote:Exactly. The only time the seat got hot for Richt was when he fielded a shitty 6-7 team. I mean we have only won the SEC East 2 times the last 10 years. That is pathetic.

The funny thing is that uga fans say if we fire Richt, we won't end up with a good head coach and be like Tenn. Well when we hired Richt, Richt wasn't a proven Head coach and had many question marks surrounding him. Being a OC or qb coach doesn't mean you will be a good head coach (most uga fans say this if someone is mentioned to take over for Richt with no head coaching experience), but Richt has done just enough to keep his job.
I also like how UGA fans want to blame all our previous position coaches like T Grantham, Willie M, etc yet ignore the fact that Richt is the MF'er who hired them. Now the excuse is that we finally got an administrator who will support the football program, so I guess the SEC is fooked or Richt is(if he still can't get it done).
