The problem here is that as fans of our respective teams we are much more intimate knowledge of the teams we follow than the ones we play. You watch every single game that bama plays during the year, then watch LSU when you play us and catch bits and pieces here and there of some of their other games. This is the same thing I do, just reversing the teams.
This generally results in you having just a general knowledge of LSU personnel and me a general knowledge of Bama's personnel. You remember Dorsey because he was a standout player and well publicized and assume that there will be a great falloff in talent now that he is gone.
My point is that you said it was basically the same matchup as last year on the lines with Cody being the only real difference. Since Bama will have at least 4 guys out of 8 that weren't playing last year against LSU... that alone shows that it isn't the same matchup at all. I'm not arguing that LSU's O/D-lines are great. LSU is good in the trenches... but the matchups in the trenches have a very different cast of characters this year.

I see LSU running some no-huddle against Bammer and making sub's a bit harder......this will make TC play more snaps and be less effective in the 4th quarter.

and your recap of the changes forgets to mention that the Bama game was two weeks after the AU chop block. Dorsey was a shell of himself at that point. That said, Kirston Pittman still got two sacks off of Andre $300,000 and Tyson Jackson had two sacks on the other side.

If you try to block him 1v1 you will be in for a long day.
Herman Johnson can block him one on one for sure...the problem is he's not going to be over Johnson, he's going to be over our smallest OL. Helms is center and he cannot block Cody 1on1, so yes he will be double teamed and he will still affect our running game but Johnson+another OL means he is not going to get push up the middle.

In the interest of brevity I didn't make my point well, sorry. This thread, in so many words, is about which team possess's more talent on the lines. The only SIGNIFICANT upgrade in talent I see from Bama from last the few years to this year is Cody. The hardest position on the team to bring up to championship levels through recruiting is the offensive and defensive lines. My feeling... even though I don't know Bama's EXACT player makeup this year on both lines... is that Nick's recruiting efforts can't possibly have caught Alabama's line talent up with LSU's yet. Why? Because even if Saban managed to recruit all future NFL talent the last two years his freshman and sophmore future NFL'ers are not going to be able to outplay our Junior and Senior laden lines which is also manned at nearly every position by a guy who will play on Sunday. So I guess the point I was TRYING to make is that for the last few years LSU's lines have been dominant over the tide and outside of Cody I don't really see a difference in the overall level of talent that to this point has not being equal to LSU's. So my answer to the question that started the thread is LSU! Bring on the game and lets see if I am proved right.
