Texas was it's own nation before it became a state. Most everyone in Texas at that time was from somewhere else except for the native indians and some of the Mexican citizens. The reason they were there is because wherever they were from SUCKED so bad they wanted to go to Texas instead live in the US. That is a fact.
A significant portion of the "Texas" population in the 1830's were descendants of Spanish soldiers who served and received land grants from the Crown of Spain in the 1750's, ~ 20 years before The Declaration of Independence and ~ 80 years before Mexico achieved its independence from Spain. Both the Republic of Texas and the United States honored the validity of those Spanish Land Grants.

They weren't from somewhere else, they were in present day Texas before the the US was the US, before Mexico was Mexico, and before Texas was Texas.

The lands "controlled" by the Republic of Texas ended at the Nueces River, though Texas also "claimed" the lands south to the Rio Grande. The United States' annexation of Texas, including the disputed lands between the Nueces & Rio Grande Rivers, led to the Mexican–American War (1846–1848).

Even then, those lands were never really "controlled" by anyone other than the people who lived there, neither Spain, Mexico, Texas, or the United States, nor the Comanche's and their allies.

The band geeks on Reddit CFB were also overwhelmingly in favor of not playing a 2020 college football season out of concern for COVID-19, so forgive me if I don’t put a lot of stock in their opinions.

Your "stock" isn't worth a squirt of piss in the face of reality. When the vast majority of citizens in this country see UT, they think of the University of Texas.

It's surprising that so many Texas fools don't understand that while you were always Big Man On Campus in your other conferences, you aren't shite here.

We'll see.

We now know who the real UT is, Texas. The vols looked like dog water against Austin Peay. Tennessee inbreds will say they’re in their “transitioning phase” hahaha gayyyyyyy.
