Yep. And that’s exactly what’s happening on this thread.

Not shocking the only two real replies are poli posters, so they were never going to come back to explain anyways
Yep.

If ESPN/ABC controlled things, you wouldn’t have the ABC announcers of SMU Clemson jockeying for SMU to get in last night, bringing in zero ratings vs a big game like ND Bama.

So that's how they sway the committee? Or do they just straight tell the committee who to pick. And then the narrative matches the results?
The narrative probably matches the results they already picked because it puts the pressure on the committee to comply.

So if they picked it ahead of time, do they just pay off all the committee members to keep quiet?

Doubt actual bribery is necessary.

So they just comply knowing it's a sham?

4 SEC Teams in the playoffs means major bank. No way it’s about money and selection, ABC/ESPN would never do such a thing for viewership and profit. NOT, it’s all about the money.

It’s not a sham. It is entertainment and a beauty contest.

You are going back and forth? Does ESPN/Disney pick the teams? Or does the committee actually do it?
Are you just saying that ESPN tries to influence the committee without money by running narratives on TV?

Then how are the teams selected?

You’re right, I was unclear.
I think they are in cahoots, and the committee goes along with the ESPN narrative.
But I have no idea if they are handed a list or if they just speak about it for a consensus.
