Edit: And no, y'all shouldn't claim 1946. Only 1 selection (and it wasn't the AP).

I don't care enough to go look through an inaccurate document for info that doesn't matter. I'm not claiming 11, UGA isn't claiming 11. We could if we wanted to count every single time we could've claimed one. The same way of counting that would give Alabama 28 National Titles and Florida 5.

Yes, we should claim '46, we were the only unbeaten and untied team and it was given to Army for obvious reasons since WW2 just ended and they were a good team. We beat better teams by larger margins and played a tougher schedule than them or ND. We were better than them and Notre Dame, but no chance the media bias at the time was giving the title to a southern team over those two. Neither of them went to a bowl, while the only other unbeaten and untied team, UCLA, lost their bowl game. UGA went to the Sugar and beat the shite out of #9 UNC.

It's the official records book, but okay.

Alabama would have 19 actually.

You cant claim a national championship unless a major selector like the AP, UPI, or BCS picks you as their national champion. I could make a legit case for Auburn being national champs in 1983 and the New York Times even selected Auburn as the national champs in their poll for that year. However, Auburn does not claim the title

Since you're too lazy to look, here's what y'all could claim:

1920 (retroactive)
1927 (retroactive)
1942
1946
1968
1980 (AP/Coaches)

And Alabama:

1925 (retroactive)
1926 (retroactive)
1930 (retroactive)
1934
1941
1945 (retroactive)
1961 (AP/Coaches)
1964 (AP/Coaches)
1965 (AP)
1966 (retroactive)
1973 (Coaches)
1975
1977
1978 (AP)
1979 (AP/Coaches)
1992 (AP/Coaches)
2009 (BCS)
2011 (BCS)
2012 (BCS)

Edit: Notice that even Alabama doesn't claim everything.

They're generally good folks, but falling behind has totally messed them up. I'm sure Florida's titles hurt, but I like to think it was Auburn 2010 that truly sent them off the deep end.

Those are UGA fans that truly understand what the word "rival" means. Winning a title while losing to you bunch of assholes would ring hollow, tbqh. I'd hope that at least older UF fans would feel the same.

I do think you guys will come around though, 4 in a row is coming this year and the streak shows no signs of stopping any time soon...

They've beaten us three years in a row now though and someone still told me that.

This is debatable. Most of the Auburn fans I know in Georgia have always told me their fans are basically bammers without the national championships to brag about. I am not around them enough in person to really gauge them, but that description fits most of their internet fan base perfectly

UGA fans are obnoxious. There are two fan bases that can't interact without making really sad comments about football, and they're UGA and Bama. Interactions with LSU, Clemson, UF, FSU, etc., etc., can regularly occur without any pathetic attempts at trash talking.

But whether it is my dog's Auburn collar or my AU polo or AU car tag, Alabama fans and UGA fans very rarely keep their mouths shut.

Now, to UGA fans' credit, they usually at least keep it light and don't interrupt you to talk trash. I know they're trying to be fun, but it's just annoying when there has to be an interaction every time you encounter one.

Bama fans, on the other hand, will walk across a parking lot to make some white trash comment they find hilarious (they're usually borderline mentally impaired), interrupt you at a business dinner by approaching your table, etc. They're insane, they have a condition where they seriously cannot shut the hell up. You can be Warren Buffett buying gas, and the 50 year old clerk on public assistance will feel superior because she goes for the Tahd and you do not.

So in sum, UGA fans are bad, but they're not deranged to the extent Bama fans are. I used to be an elite UGA hater before I went to school there, now I'm just a regular hater.

The NCAA does not award or officially recognize any national title given in their top level of football. That is merely a documenting of some of the selectors that were used.

Why do you think I mentioned them in my post? It was given to both. Just look at the link that you posted. 6 of the selectors that are actually listed by the NCAA chose Army. Just because you only choose to recognize AP doesn't mean a goddamn thing. Everyone else, including the NCAA, recognized multiple polls.

Army officially claims 1946, along with 1944 and 1945, so if you really want to argue the point, take it up with them.

Finally, this is a message board, not a baseball game, so no I could not have LITERALLY struck out.

Get over yourself. I find it highly unlikely that you have "business dinners". It's easy to run your shite in here, in real life, you would be clocked out with your insulting comments.

Again, that is not the NCAA national champion. It is a documentation of the AP national champion, nothing more.

Not sure why you are having so much trouble understanding this. The NCAA does not and never has awarded a national championship or officially recognized an awarded national championship in D1-A/FBS football.

So...if I'm understanding this correctly...and I think I am...most of y'all are saying that...your rivals have the most irritating fanbases?

I did not see that coming. My head is still spinning.

IRL it's a tie between LSU and Alabama
On the Rant it's Arkansas and Auburn.
I'm also on board that we will suck to deal with if we start winning.
