This is one thing I'm excited about Mizzou for. Ark-Zou has a great BBall rivalry potential.
Actually it also has some solid history to it as well, Mizzou and Arky played every year in the non-conf in hoops from the late 1980s to about 2000 or so (and played a couple times in 2007 and 2008 as well). It was a good series, Mizzou and Arky were both often times Top 20 programs when they met back then - Mizzou was top dog of the Big Eight in the 1980s winning 6 out of 10 confernece championships that decade, and then gradually in the early 1990s both the series and the national prominence shifted more over to Arkansas during the Nolan Richardson era. Made for some good games that were fun to watch.
The Mike Anderson angle to it though I really don't think will be that big a deal. If he had left Mizzou and our hoops team had gone to shite, it probably would have, but we were actually a lot better team using the same players without him than we were with him, so it was really a win-win for both sides. Fine by us.

I just wish we could beat the shite out of them once every few years.
I heard some talk about playing them in Arrowhead in the non-con since ku pussied out. Not sure if that's the wisest move for us given that we are already playing tough SEC schedules, but the atmosphere would be friggin' electric and that event would absolutely OWN Kansas City for college football. It would be THE happening in town every year. STL would be good too, but distance wise KC would probably be better in terms of proximity to the Nubbers and what not...

Last Arkansas-Mizzou BBall game I remember watching was in the tourny and it wasn't pretty for you guys.
I think it had something to do with some of yalls fans being racist as hell 2 nolan or something along those lines and he let the big boys run wild.
eta: I was just a kid back then so my memory is a little foggy

KC would make more sense to them. I just said StL to make them travel further. KC is prob the better location. But once every 4 years I dont think is a huge deal. We have straight BS Non-Cons lined up the next couple years so after that I dont think it will be a huge deal to play the Nubs once. We would shut the State down officially. Could you imagine that being a Week 2 game?

Yeah I think your youthful memories may be a bit off there. We have never played you in the NCAA tournament that I know of, certainly not in the Nolan Richardson era. And we aren't known for being racist fans toward him or anyone else. Infantile, classless pricks, yes, but not racists.

Bonus link - here's some video of Mizzou's Anthony Peeler posterizing, among other people, Arkansas' Oliver Miller during one of Mizzou's wins in Fayetteville back in 1992:

Ahhh, yea it was the Bud Walton Dedication game.

Yep that was an epic beating. What's really funny about 1994 though, is that destruction sort of galvanized Mizzou into a really good year that year. Mizzou wound up going 28-4, went 14-0 in the Big Eight to win the conference, finished the season ranked #3 in the polls and was a #1 seed in the West Region, while Arkansas was the #1 seed in the Midwest. The result was there was almost a rematch of that Bud Walton dedication game beatdown at the Final Four in Charlotte, but Mizzou got tripped up in the Elite Eight by #2 seed Arizona and the hot shooting of Damon Stoudamire and Khalid Reeves, so Arky faced them in the Final Four instead.
The racist stuff though doesn't make any sense and is probably urban legend. For one thing there were not enough Mizzou fans at Bud Walton that day to be heard above the roar of the dedication game crowd.

- prolly aTm since we're in the same division. Honestly though, if it's not Arkansas winning it, it's difficult to give a real frick (as long as it is won by an SEC team).
I seriously hope so. I'd lose my shite of another conference team won the SECCG.
