This is the testimony of an outsider who's trying to project the future about a college football team that he obviously knows very little about.... USC rushed for 5 TDs in their final 5 games of the season. But we only failed to score rushing TDs in the final 2 games of the season, versus Clemson and Michigan. Miles injured his ankle vs. CU and was hobbled still when the bowl game arrived. He only had 5 carries versus Michigan. Still, he was the ONLY RB that got carries vs. Mich. We still rushed for 5.0 ypc in the game, thanks to Shaw's 96 yds on 10 carries... So that's 5 rushing TDs in 3 games, not 5. All 19 of our rushing TDs coming in the first 11 games, or just under 2 TDs per game. And unless you're saying that we'll only have 2 RBs all season to turn to in 2013, with one of those backs a true freshman, then your comparison is baseless. We dealt with tremendous attrition at RB last season due to injuries, plus Shaw - who is a key element in our running game - was hobbled all season long with injuries himself. Next season we'll have 6 talented RBs to turn to, if they can remain healthy. Same thing for Shaw...
I'm not so focused about predicting the future as I am focused on advising that winning the SEC is driven by rushing the football for TDs (ie. being multiple in playcalling even in obvious running downs).
YPC is deceiving because every good team is a run/pass threat on 1st and 10. It's 2nd and short and 3rd and short (or even 3rd and long)where the rubber hits the road. The teams that control their destiny on the ground have a distinct advantage over the teams that have to rely on the passing game.
The biggest thing South Carolina has going for it is Connor Shaw's ability to scramble on 3rd and long. And that was something that killed us last season (in combination with Lattimore's effectiveness).
That said... numbers are numbers.
Either you can run on any defense in any situation or you can't (and by run, I measure that by TDs on the ground more than anything).

We didn't win the East because of an inept QB against Auburn in 2011 and a complete shitshowing in Gainesville last year. Georgia had nothing to do with it.
This. Bingo

Wow, USCjr has been a completely pointless football program for the better part of 50 years, but it only took a handful of decent seasons for them to learn how to whine like LSU.
meh
Well, then again, Gamecock fans are not really inclined to whining about schedules, but we do occasionally point out the facts of the matter and then we drive-on.
Said Gamecock fan above probably need not drag Bama into the conversation - that was pretty pointless, but whatever.
Anyways, during the past three years Georgia has won the SEC East twice, SC once. Had we beaten Auburn, as we should have, two seasons ago it would be the other way around, plain and simple.
But since we're analyzing this thing ...
Last three years:
SC 3-0 vs UGA (SECCG = SC, UGA, UGA)
Bama vs LSU 1-2 (regular season), 1-0 post season. (SECCG = Auburn, LSU, Bama)
See the difference and understand the different perception regardless of SC's "pointlessness" during the past however long?

I agree, you gotta be able to run the ball in the SEC, it's always been that way.
BTW, how did y'all do last year against us in Columbia, running the ball, with Gurshall?
Or was that your point?
Anyways, between Shaw and all of our returning RBs we'll be fine running the ball given what we have coming back on the OLine and the depth at the position. I mean Nick Saban was not trying to hire our OLine Coach, Shawn Elliott, for nothing .... agreed?
And we've developed the other side of that offense - the passing game - plus we return some pretty good WRs and bring-up some of the new, very talented, redshirted guys at both WR and RB.
Linebacker and Spur/Safety is where are questions are headed into this next season. It is as plain and simple as that.

Florida wins the East and the SECCG & the BCSCG this year.

-Florida fans do not wear jorts
-UGA fans do not remember Herschel Walker fondly
-Bama fans are lukewarm on nick saban
-LSU fans prefer a subtle, understated tailgate atmosphere
-kentucky fans look forward to football all basketball season
-auburn fans do not care what alabama is doing
-tennessee fans wish they had derek dooley back
All of these make as much sense as his post.

Actually some of those make more sense.

Meh ... big difference between whining and between stating the facts. That's all I'm saying. Do one or two of our fans whine, sure they do. All fan bases have fans like that - Georgia more than most. But fact of the matter is that for the past few years SC has just played a tougher schedule. UGA will be doing plenty of pointing-out the same fact this coming season ... oh, wait. Y'all still don't play a tougher schedule, do you?
No biggie.
No biggie.

Is that one of those facts you've been talking about? The 6 or 7 UGA fans that post on here whine more than most other fanbases? I'd like to see some data on that.

You're right they have. Can you tell me one person who has denied that? That's like me posting every day that the Earth is round. We all know it, nobody is arguing against it, so why keep mentioning it?

We drop ole miss and pick up LSU, and drop buffalo and pick up Clemson. What the frick do you want us to do, drop north texas and play oregon instead?

I think your link is busted.
BCS Ranked Teams (which ignores bowl results by the way):
against Bama 1 rushing TD
against S.Car 1 rushing TD
against Florida 1 rushing TD
against Nebraska 1 rushing TD
The numbers are wrong, deeprig.
AP adds Vandy which would tack on 5 more rushing TDs in that game alone (9 total against AP ranked teams).
I say you need to trust a better source than the 4 letter network.
Link me to where you get your stats, then. Please. I don't remember every touchdown in every game. I look them up, and report what I find.
shite on ESPN, fine, but I'm just linking you to what their stats are.
I looked at stats last night from Georgia Dogs site, but it didn't have splits, just totals.
Please, by all means, link me to a better source.

Yeah, but we still have a tougher schedule according to the teams' winning percentages last year. We'll see if that ends up being true or not.
