CenturyLink Field is loud due to location and architecture. I'm sure their fans are passionate, but no more so than SEC fans.

if im not mistaken...Tiger Stadium actually held the record at one point

ETA: CBS recorded 130 dbs in 2007 against Florida. i believe the exact number was 129.8

None has a shot unless and until they build one of those tin roof overhangs that bounces sound back down toward the field, thus magnifying the noise level.

Current Kyle? No. Next year though it will be enclosed with 109k, it would be interesting if the Guinness folks come out for the LSU game if it is on TDay Night as expected. I could see that breaking the record.

The big advantage A&M has is the 31k students in prime seating. All that noise projects straight on the field. You don't really hear it though currently if you are in the End Zone or on the far side where the visiting seats are.

Yeah and its not like to get that loud again. Or at least not until after the expansion.

If I could, I would make a significant bet on A&M breaking the sound record in 2 years.

We are adding 20,000 seats, have the largest student section in the country (everyone knows students account for most of the noise), our stadium will finally be enclosed (right now, it is not conducive to keeping noise in), and there will be shade awnings on both the East & West Stand which will have even a greater impact on keeping noise in the stadium.

If you look at the current configuration of Kyle field, its amazing its as loud as it is. The south endzone is completely open and the NE and NW corners are open as well. There is nothing keeping even remotely beneficial to making that stadium loud other than there being 85,000 people there.

I've been going to SEC games since the 80's. I've been to every stadium except the two newest SEC members. Here's how I'd rank the stadiums strictly from a loudness standpoint.....

T1. Tiger Stadium (LSU)
T1. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (Florida)
T1. Jordan-Hare Stadium (Auburn)
4. Sanford Stadium (Georgia)
5. Williams-Brice Stadium (South Carolina)
6. Neyland Stadium (Tennessee)
7. Bryant-Denny Stadium (Alabama)
8. Razorback Stadium (Arkansas)
9. Commonwealth Stadium (Kentucky)
10. Vaught-Hemingway Stadium (Ole Miss)
11. Davis-Wade (Miss State)
12. Vanderbilt Stadium (Vandy)

Really 1,2, & 3 are interchangeable. When any of those three are rocking you not only hear the noise, you literally feel it. You can be screaming at the top of your lungs and not really hear yourself over the overall noise.

Once you get past those three there is a real drop off in overall volume when it comes to the next group of stadiums (4-8). They are still VERY loud and in any other conference would be much higher on the list.

As for 9-12. They can get loud, just nothing like the ones higher on the list.

The game against Bama in 2008 when LSU blocked the FG at the end of regulation to send it to OT was about as loud a single moment as I can remember.

This, along with the skyler green catch and USC score announcement were the 3 loudest moments I've ever heard in my life. I'm fairly confident that if we had a sound meter for the uga game in 03, the record would belong to us. Still so badass remembering the LSU chant after UGA scored

Because chances are that within the course of this year, the #1 team will not lose to a 40 point underdog on the same night that we beat a top 6 team coming from behind and going for it on 4th down 6 times in the process
