So your team is left out every single year because they aren't popular?

the problem with automatic bid from a conference is let's say a Miami team with 3 losses beats an undefeated FSU or CLemson in the ACC title team. you really think Miami deserves to be in playoffs in that scenario?

If my university wins the conference than we deserve a spot

This takes the voters out of it

College football needs to remove the influence of people in determining the national championship

In college basketball it is still there but only in the seedings. There hasn't been many double digit seeds who have won so I doubt that many teams are left out of the tournament who have a chance to even get out of the first weekend let alone win the entire thing

Seedings don't matter if you are the best team. Even if you are from a small conference and go 13-0 like a Western Michigan from this year and get a #8 seed if you are truly the best your team should win

Yes

Then the one lost team has a chance at an At Large bid

Those three losses could have been because they played a tougher schedule.

you don't deserve to be in playoffs if your team hasn't played as good a schedule and has more losses than other teams desptie winning the conference.

I see. So until we do away with the committee, your team will continue to be discriminated against.

I hope things get better for you.

taking 8 teams would trivialize the regular season, in my view. I could live with 6 but I would prefer to take the highest ranked teams from each P5 conference plus one at large, not base it only on winning the conference title game.

OSU got in last year because they were ranked higher than PSU.

There has only been one time when Carolina could have won the conference during this new format and they lost the ACC championship game

I have felt like TCU or Baylor in 2014
Penn State in 2016
Should have been in the final 4 for the playoffs but because of the committee they could not play
If you award automatic spots then the at large bids are only determined by people besides the seedings

Penn State had a worse loss than OSU, to Pitt, and lost to Michigan, who OSU beat. they didn't have a strong case over OSU. OSU had a better OOC win, at Okla.

No because you have to win during the season to receive a spot in your conferences championship game

The regular season is just as important as it is now

Problem is the unbalanced schedules in most conferences. Inter division matchups in the conferences can determine who plays in the championship game and who doesn't.

nah because in your system, a 5-3 or even 4-4 team in their conference can still make playoffs if they get to conference title game and win it.

Your not understanding the point

It was proven on the field who was a better team
Everything you say does not matter because Ohio State could not beat Penn State

All this other bullshite was disproven on the football field when they matched up

one game doesn't prove who the better team is. The better team wins more games against different tyeps of teams.

OSU beat Michigan. Penn State lost to Michigan. it doesn't make sense to say PSU is better than OSU simply b/c they beat OSU.

That would be the best thing for college football if you have underdogs and Cinderellas

I doubt many 4-4 teams will be playing for a conference championship very often

i think our current playoff system is fine the way it is.

the playoffs shouldn't be about cinderellas. lol

in the basketball tourney, the 1 seeds often lost their conference tournament, such as UNC this year. the seed is based on their entire resume.

i don't think football playoffs should have anymore than 6 teams max. take the highest ranked team from each P5 conference and one at large, and have a bye for top two teams, similar to NFL playoff.

this way you eliminate any conference bias.

[quote]Why don't you like it? No, they're not an elite program, but Cutcliffe is helluva coach and could give Bama a real game of it. Nowhere near enough talent to last, so it'll likely end up a blow-out, but I can see them giving y'all a nerve-wracking first half, at least.

C'mon man,,,,That game is already over. As the other poster said, they would make a great #2 for that year. I would be willing to accommodate Duke if we could get a reciprocal basketball game from them....a neutral site with them to lead of the season is crap particularly given the rest of the schedule that year.

So you want to keep it a popularity contest

Humans do not always see things how they actually are they perceive things how they wish them to be

Only way to take humans out of it is allowing what happens on the field to determine a champion

Penn St played Michigan and Pitt early
Played Ohio St late
I could say at the end of the year Penn St was the best team from that conference.

If you do not want to award conference champions then we should go back to the old system when
voters went off name recognition alone and sometimes never viewed the team
They voted #1 They just went off of what other people said

you are making excuses for PSU. i assume you are a fan.

PSU had two losses. OSU had 1 loss and played a tougher schedule with Oklahoma.

i do not believe OSU is any more 'popular' than PSU. OSU was selected based on their record and SOS.

if PSU had not lost to Pitt, they would have been in playoffs.

I think Okla probably had a better case than PSU.

No I understand that your university beat Ohio State in the playoffs

You want to make it seem like you actually defeated the best team out of that conference

I am not a fan of either university I am just speaking as someone who follows college football and wants a true champion to be crowned
