are you saying Dubose had a good career at Bama because of that 1 fluke title? wasn't he 0-8 against UT and AU?

Not at all...I hate that guy.I was just still trying to figure out how our situation was worse.

Phattopotamus being more concerned with Bama than his own team came back to bite him.

Dude, 2000-2004 Alabama was easily better than 2008-2012 Tennessee.
Records:
Alabama 30-31
Tennessee 28-34
Winning seasons:
Alabama 2
Tennessee 1
Bowls/Record
Alabama 2, 1-1 (would have been 3, but ineligible)
Tennessee 2, 0-2
Losses by 10-or-more points
Alabama 13
Tennessee 21
Record vs FBS teams with a winning record
Alabama 17-27
Tennessee 8-28
Alabama sucked. There's no question about that. But the Tide at least held their own. The Vols have been brutally terrible and it's not even close.

No. He was 0-4 against Tennessee, yes, but he was also 2-2 against Auburn. Admittedly he should have been 3-1 against AU because he literally choked away the '97 Iron Bowl in the last 60 seconds.

Difference is we actually have money in our reserves. Not the case for UT
Exactly. As far as I know, we never went into debt that we couldn't cover with our cash reserves if we had to. UT only has $1.9 million in reserve. Big difference.

The true downfall for UT is that they're UT.

Our demise can be traced to the retirement of Dickey and the hiring of Mike Hamilton, many stupid moves were made by him.
I think we might be slowly taking care of business on the administrative side of things, and perhaps our current football coach is better than we think, only time will tell.
And yes bammers, your lows have not been as low as ours, and your highs have been higher than our highs. Historically, you are the best program in the SEC, and we are but a distant second, at risk at the moment to become even more irrelevant.
I hope Butch is the answer we are looking for and become a legend.

the league was way weaker back in 2000-2004. past few years Tennessee played one of the most brutal conference + ooc schedules in the nation.
here is another suckage
LINK
in 1997-2006 10 year period Alabama suffered multiple 3 and 4 win seasons. I wonder what 3, 4 win season feels like.

3 and 4? What about 3/4?

Probation will do that to you. What's your excuse? Despite all that suckage we still had multiple 10-win seasons during that same time period. And as bad as we were we never had back-to-back losing seasons. You're currently staring #4 in a row in the face unless there is a massive turnaround.
I personally find it sad that you Tennessee fans have fallen so far that you have reduced yourselves to comparing losing seasons. "Oh…well…we've never lost 8 games in a season before!" Pathetic.

I don't remember, but I do remember what 3 NCs in 4 years feels like.

From 2008-20012, Tennessee's SEC opponents had a .624 win percentage. From 2000-2004, Alabama's SEC opponents had a .591 win percentage. "Way weaker" is a stretch.

So? Alabama's was tougher.
From 2000-2004, Alabama's FBS opponents were 439-298 (.596). From 2008-2012, Tennessee's FBS opponents were 434-324 (.573). Also, Tennessee played three FCS teams; Alabama only played one.
Few teams blew Alabama out of the water during a game. LSU was the only team to beat them by 20+ points. Meanwhile, Tennessee's been waxed 13 times by 20+ points in the last five years.

The same as 5-7 seasons. No bowl. Abstractly, what's the difference between a 3-9 team and a 5-7 team? They both blow. You're trying to split a lot of hairs to make a pretty empty point.
Fact is, Alabama, weakened primarily by substantial NCAA penalties, was a better program at the turn of the century than Tennessee, a program that has utterly eaten itself, is now.

You could, technically, probably make a case for that. It holds water.
