I think the problem Sark has had at Texas this year is the offensive line never panned out for him. Seems like I remember hearing that Texas spent a lot bringing in portal players on the line this year and they just never have put it together. That is a problem around college football this season though. I have not seen a great line this year in college football.

Everyone thought Texas needed portal help on the OL. Kyle Flood had been preparing to replace the 4 2024 starters for 3 recruiting cycles. He thought he had recruited and developed what we needed and convinced Sark to spend portal dollars elsewhere. Guessing Flood won’t be back in ‘26.

He was gifted the easiest schedule in the SEC his first 2 years here. If he didn't get it done now he never will.

DNCP. did not call plays. CEO style Coach had Offensive and Defensive Coordinators. Rarely called plays
OC but involved in play calling intensively
NOC No official OC call all plays himself
QCP. Quarterback called play at line.

Nick Saban 7 LSU, Alabama. . DNCP
Paul "Bear" Bryant 6 Alabama. DNCP
Woody Hayes 5 Ohio State. OC
John McKay 4 USC. OC
Barry Switzer 3 Oklahoma. OC
Urban Meyer 3 Florida, Ohio State. OC
Tom Osborne 3 Nebraska. QCP
Dabo Swinney 2 Clemson. DNCP
Kirby Smart 2 Georgia. DNCP
Bobby Bowden 2 Florida State. OC
Joe Paterno 2 Penn State. DNCP
Pete Carroll 1 USC. NDC
Ed Orgeron 1 LSU. NDC
Jim Harbaugh 1 Michigan. OC
Mack Brown 1 Texas. DNCP
Larry Coker 1 Miami. DNCP

As you can see, Sarkisian is a rare duck. He furiously is calling plays and is absorbed in play calling. He is NOT a CEO style coach like the many above you who have won titles. He most resembles Urban Meyer in style.

His overall record speaks for his style. Of the four Modern era coaches, Saban, smart, brown, swinney all were CEO style coaches. With little involvement in play calling.

Urban Meyer was intensely involved and ended up hospitalized and out of coaching. He was not a CEO style guy.

I do wish and hope Sark succeeds but if I were a Texas fan, I would not be optimistic Sark will get it done.

Texas' biggest mistake was joining the SEC..

It’s a double edged sword. Much better games and game day excitement but stiffer competition with 2-3 losses per year in conference most years.

Texas did not join I believe for money alone but for the prestige of being apart of the toughest conference in college football.

Texas is a blue blood program but I’m not sure their current Coach is of that quality.
