If you are a Mississippi native who was raised in Mississippi, went to high school in Mississippi, and have family here in Mississippi, you know what the Egg Bowl means to people of this state.
Im assuming you Rebs who think State is just another game are either,
A) Not from Mississippi,
or B) have no family from Mississippi nor ever played high school sports here in Mississippi.
The best sportswriter in the state, Rick Cleveland wrote a great book on the Egg Bowl series. You Delusional Reb fans should read it.

Born in Miss., raised in Miss., went through Miss. schools, and I still see LSU as our biggest rival.
And I have 3 uncles that graduated from MSU, 2 of which I can't stand. I know what this game means and I still see LSU as our biggest rival.
I have read his book before.....twice actually, and I still see LSU as our biggest rival.(And calling him the best sportswriter in the State is a stretch)

So honestly what big games have LSU and Ole Miss been involved against each other in the past 30 years other than the 2003 game when Eli Was a SR? I mean I just dont fricking get it? If the game is SOOOOO big why dont they schedule it as the last game of the season instead of playing Mississippi State.
As for Rick, if you dont like his writing you need help. He has written some of the best personal interest stories about high schools and colleges throughout the state for years.
As for being from Mississippi, where are you from? Probabally DeSoto county, which is almost not even part of Mississippi IMO.
I am man enought to admit where I am from
Brookhaven, Mississippi born and raised.

It sounds like your vag is pretty sore over this. Get over it man, y'all have a 1-sided rivalry with them. No one gives a shite about State. Start winning and maybe things will change. But right now, you aren't competing with either Miss or LSU for wins or recruits. Never heard of this sportswriter you speak of, but I would imagine he must be fairly young - any LSU or Miss fans with a sense of tradition would consider each other the biggest rival
**And yes, I know what happened in our game earlier this season, but I stand by my statement.

State's had 1 winning season this decade.....and that was when we were winless in the SEC. How is THAT a big game.

Born in Biloxi, raised 20 years in the bulldog town of Tupelo, MS. Every teacher that I've ever had was a MSU grad and typically diehard Bully's.
........And I STILL refer to LSU as my biggest rival.

It sounds like he feels extremely disrespected about this whole thing.
But if it makes him feel better, I think MSU is Ole Miss's biggest rival in Basketball.
But LSU is a bigger rival in Baseball.

Hey State fans... The Egg Bowl is HUGE. It is the one game I don't want to lose.
Hey Ole Miss fans... Stop acting like we're some program on a different plain that is offended by the thought of the Egg Bowl being a rivalry. It is. It always has been. It always will be.
Its the biggest game of year. Just like Bama/Aub.

Not one single Ole Miss fan has said that it isn't a rivalry or that we are offended by anything.

But we are disagreeing with this. Just like a number of Bama fans hate Tennessee more than Aub.
We're just saying that we feel like LSU is a bigger rivalry than MSU.

Ohh yeah I forgot about all of those comparable number of CWS trips the two of you have had over the past 30 years, wait nevermind thats right Ole Miss hasnt been to Omaha in the past 30 years. But I guess all of those BIG matchups betweeen LSU and your rebs are bigger than the former Mayors trophy and now the Governor's cup. But being from Tupelo Im sure you have never been to any of these games in Jackson. Ive been to many, and always VERY heated when Smith Wills was split in half, and now Trustmark park.

I'm just sayin'
Losing to MS State is WAYYYYYYYY worse than losing to LSU.

I'm there every year for about 6 years and will be there next year.
Rivalries have little to do with comparable accomplishments.
But by your logic in this post........MSU only has one Bowl appearance this decade(so far, in respect) while OM has had 5(so far). So MSU shouldn't think they are OM's rivals because they don't have near the same accomplishments.

You have to be the most delusional poster on this board.
So the only things that determine whether somebody is your rival or not is their body of work over the past ten years?????????
Wait I thought you said it was what they did back in the 50's and 60's now you are contridicting yourself. AGAIN

One accomplishment that Mississippi State DOES HAVE that Ole Miss doesnt, and more than likely never will is a SEC West title in football

Did you COMPLETELY look over the part where I said, "So by your logic..."?
It was sarcasm with a hint of satire in it.
