I guess Rebel fans are trying to erase the Orgeron years between 2005 and 2007 like the Germans have tried to ignore that Hitler ever ruled Germany during WWII.

In 1959, 1960, and 1961, the only blemish on Ole Miss seasons' were LSU games each year, precluding Ole Miss from having 3 straight national championships and a 35+ game win streak. Thats a basis for hand me down hate over the generations.

All of these Ole Miss fans are talking about games in the 50's and 60's when hardly anybody on here who posts werent even born, and even some of their parents werent born.

Ive said this before and I will say it again.

SEC football before integration wasnt REAL football.

That is all.

I have never considered Ole Miss a rival. In fact, I dont think LSU has any real rivals in the SEC. Florida is coming close but Florida has a long line of rivals already.

If you think LSU/Ole Miss is a rival, you dont know what a rival is.

Go to an Iron Bowl. THATS a rival!!

there is absolutely no way...maybe some of the older fans but id say in general that ole miss is not even near to being the consensus #1 hated team by our current fan base like LSU is for ole miss

nor do we mention Ole Miss at every single one of our games in more than 1 chant

Totally different scenario

when you have good friends or relatives in close contacts with the programs it is just different, yearly shite talking and hanging victories over friends and family breeds a degree of hate

in fact this is why i hate UF the most

I guess thats true. But with the (albeit small) rise of the FB team at UM I would say it's greater. Especially with the downfall of Auburn.

Bama wins #1 in my book, but I can't say the same for others I know.

Haha definitly true. I had forgot about the "go to hell LSU" addition in the Dixie/Battle Hymn song compilation they play. They have the hate way more for us than we for them in this case.

i mean...dont get me wrong...i dont like ole miss or most of their fans

i think that although LSU has no main rival, i do think they have more semi-rivalries than anyone else in the conference

I think recent history has downgraded ole miss to a semi-rival, placing them on the same level as an AU or UF, even slightly less to a lot of our fanbase.

Lets be realistic, before 1967 there were ZERO African American players in the SEC. If you look at the make up of the SEC today African Americans make up over 67% of the starting lineups of SEC teams. Many of these African American players are the best players on their respective SEC teams. Many will go on to play in the NFL as well.

It is just my personal opinion that because there was any African American players in the SEC prior to integration, the level of play during the era of the 1950's and 60's wasnt the level of the SEC post integration. Many of the best African American players from the South played at SWAC schools or Northern schools (BIG 10) who allowed African American players on the teams back then.

I dont want to ramble on forever, but its just the facts. SEC football is great today, it was good in the 50's and 60's im sure (WAAAYYY before I was born) but it became the POWERHOUSE it is today during the 1980's and 1990's with great players like Emmitt Smith, Reggie White, Cornelious Bennett, Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker etc etc.

I have never thought of Ole Miss as a rival at all. I barely think about them when I see the schedule and I am not kidding. Just another middle of pack SEC team.
