I thought this thread was going to die yesterday, but since it's still up, I will add my .02. I have a lil experience in this matter.

I get what the OP is saying, and I have always known that OM fans looked forward to the LSU game more than the State game. I got a lil advice for the State fans: don't worry about it right now. It's not gonna change overnight. But as another poster stated earlier. You gotta win to start changing the OM fan's perspective. State doesn't even have to win the west or the SEC. Just beat OM on a consistent basis, and talk some trash, and it won't take long for them to start looking toward that Egg Bowl.

The hate may not be on the level of the LSU hatred, but it would be damn close.

Also, I know a lil about the Egg Bowl rivalry. I was born and raised in Rankin County. I grew up hating OM and still do bc of what i have dealt with from their fanbase through the years, and when i went to LSU, i was shocked about the apathy most of the students had for OM. Most of the LSU students i knew didn't really care about OM. I would try to get the other students to realize that the LSU/OM game was a big game, but they really thought I was insane.

I'm new to the rivalry so to me it's all 0-0.

Nothing wrong with Rankin county. Flowood is actually a great place to live.

I stayed on the Rez for a summer a few years back. Flowood cops are worse than the Oxford PD.

I was given a ticket for going 58 in a 55 because I was going down a hill in Flowood.

Im sure you used your argueing skills you frequently use on here when the cop told you that you were going 58 in a 55, but with Rankin co cops you actually LOSE your arguement

Jackson is a cistern.

I'd hate everything if I was from there.

No, I don't argue with the police over a speeding ticket. The 5 mph buffer is an officer being nice, it isn't an entitlement. So it can't be argued with. And I'm not stupid enough to argue it with the officer. If I feel that I have been wronged, I'll argue my case in court.

Not too mention the fine was probably less than the court fees.
