If LSU tanks this year or next, they won't have the money to cover all the contracts they'd have to buy out. They'd have to go with Aranda. They would owe a TON of money if they fire all the coaches in the next year or two.

You have no idea what you're talking about. TAF has the money, and then some, and then some... It's leadership with balls that we lack. F. King and Alleva are problems no. 1 and 2. JBE sky screaming a few years ago also didn't help.

Get a competent AD with vision who will tell the BOS what he needs instead of asking, then we'll have no problem.

And we all know buyouts are never paid all at once or even full amounts.

Add in Canada & Les (~3M per year combined). Pay it off over 3 years.

Les' buyout I believe is paid over 8 years. I want to say he gets about 1.4/year. Canada's final buyout was only 1.7 million (LINK ). He received 1 million if it already in January and will receive the remaining $700k over 20 monthly installments. SO Les and Canada are getting, combined, less than 2 million/year, and Canada's buyout will be paid in full before the end of 2019.

It should not have been Herman or O. At the time, there was a huge range of guys between those two.

Most LSU fans agree with your sentiment. I do. Alleva fricked up that entire transition from start to finish. Herman was his guy, when it appeared he'd have to go to bat for his guy, Alleva got scared, wet himself, and made a quick hire to save face.

He should have taken a step back, hired a search firm and started the process over. Hell, if he was a halfway competent AD, he would have already had his contingent 2-4 guys on speed dial. He didn't, and LSU wound up with O.

would take his HC inexperience over O's experience 7 days a week. I know leading the whole program is different from being the DC, but everyone who works around Aranda says he's just on another level. He's so detailed and so meticulous, and he leaves no stone unturned while game-planning. Not making a direct comparison, but that sounds like another pretty successful coach in the conference, huh?

Then why the frick did he not get the job over Ed?

I can't answer that as I'm not the AD. Please refer all questions to him.

In no world would we buy out Aranda.

If we buy out O Aranda will have his choice to stay or not. If he chooses to move on, that’s his decision. He wouldn’t be fired, so no buyout.

Aranda is going to be an excellent head coach one day.

He's not an elite recruiter, but he's a brilliant guy and would absolutely hire coaches that can recruit AND coach. And he's not a bad recruiter either, he's pretty decent. He also goes after intangibles with recruits a lot and goes after guys that fit into his puzzle exactly how he wants them to.

His work ethic, demeanor, knowledge of the game, attention to detail, commitment to his process, etc. reminds me a lot of Saban tbh. He just out prepares and out smarts everyone.

And players love playing for him and coaches love coaching with him. The words "genius" and "savant" get thrown around a lot with him.

ETA:

He's made some defensive staff hires that are pretty damn solid this year too. I think he's starting to build his death star.

You may be right, but a new HC may want his own staff and Aranda may not fit in.

I would guess game 4 of this year. Seems to be the precedent in place at LSU.

Whoever that is, is a moron.

I say promote Aranda to HC, Corey Raymond DC (figure head just to recruit), and keep Aranda's new position hires. Then clean house.

You have to give a new HC full autonomy to run his program and make personnel decisions. If LSU's next HC isn't Aranda, and he chooses not to retain him, you've gotta let him make that call and live or die by it.

That being said, I think any HC would be stupid if he didn't want to retain him as DC.

LSU needs to wait 12 months or so and then hire Derek Dooley away from Mizzou.

This is like claiming that Saban will be carried off on players' shoulders after beating LSU. Beating aTm has become old and expected.
