I’ve seen plenty of “what if” CFP threads asking what will happen if this or that happens, most of them based on a series of far-fetched scenarios and quickly devolve in to mental masturbation exercises where Bama fans take sizable doses of copium to stave off having to face the reality their playoff dreams are, while not entirely dead, quite remote at best.

But let us set all that silliness aside and return from the land of fantasy to the real world. Based on what we’ve seen on the field this season from all these CFP contenders, who, in your opinion, will be the four teams that actually make the playoff and in what order?

My prediction:

1. Georgia (undefeated SEC Champ)
2. Ohio State (undefeated Big10 Champ)
3. Florida State (undefeated ACC Champ)
4. Oregon (one loss PAC-12 Champ)

I agree with your prediction

I think Texas gets left out, and that is a shame; but the PAC 12 love is strong this year

FSU is done imo. If UF plays like they did against us, I think they can beat their backup even without Mertz.

I think what benefits Oregon over Texas right now is the Ducks have a game where they have an opportunity to beat one of the top four in the CFP rankings. Beating Washington, which I think Oregon most likely will do, is what will elevate them into the final four. Texas on the other hand doesn’t have that top tier game left to improve its standing.

If this happens as you lay out, I think it more likely that this will be how Texas gets in. I think the committee would drop Washington to 5 and put Texas at four as the one-loss Big12 Champion.

Why do you think they’d drop Georgia to 4?

Why do you have UGA 4th? This means they beat a one loss Bama team which is always saying something.

So, Michigan beats Ohio State, very possible.

Texas wins outs, very possible though I doubt they’d be jumped to the 2 spot.

Oregon beats Washington, again very possible.

Then you have Bama at four. That means Bama beats Georgia, I’d say possible though a toss-up at best. But what about FSU in your scenario? Who do you see beating them? Not saying it can’t happen. I’m just curious who you think does it.

I agree. The winner of that game is definitely going. But there is no way the loser goes too.

I agree w/this though I can see Louisville getting FSU next week, which would open the door for Texas
