If Auburn beats Bama, they will have 2 losses

they are out of the race

Have to agree on that this year. We are getting better, but we ain't there yet. Who wants to back into an NC game anyway. I swear a lot of my fellow hog fans are starting to talk like Boise fans. If so and so loses and then they beat them and then lose and if we win we get a BCS bid. That is the Boise way of thinking.

I say that 1 and 2 are the only way Arkansas has a shot. They would have to pass Bama in the BCS if only 1 happens. I'm not sure which is more unlikely: Bama losing to Auburn or Arky passing Bama. I'm saying the latter ain't happenin'.

its just the case this year...We know we are headed in the right direction and posting the win total we've had over the lat 2 years is pretty clear...

Next year, we will still be in this discussion or something similar

If Arkansas, by some miracle, were to beat LSU handily (> 10 points) on their field...I think you'd start seeing them get a lot of love from the coaches poll.

We've got no shot, basically, at the MNC. I came to terms with that a long time ago. But I'd be ecstatic if we could just sneak into a BCS game again.

OK, gotcha. I thought we were talking 3-way tie. If they lose to Auburn & we win out, it's a given that we jump them in the BCS poll too. (Granted this is all VERY much just talking hypotheticals and not how I think things will play out)

yall will have a much better path next year imo. Yall return a lot plus get Knile Davis back. You have both the LSU and Alabama games at home. Yall will make a better case next year.

Bama

In all fairness - just about any fan would take that as a reasonable alternative to an undefeated season.

... and if you're a 1-loss SEC Champion, I don't care what happened in that game in Nashville. You've punched your card.

Auburn beating Bama this year might be a bit much to hope. Everything else on there is feasible.

I do think the BsCS is underrating Ark, but this ain't your year to go yard.

4) Jump Bama in polls. (A #4 would probably jump a #3 at this point)

It kills me that lately people around here are throwing head to head match-ups out the window when speculating how voters will vote. If it comes down to who to vote higher, a 1 loss BAMA vs a 1 loss ARK, how can anyone think that a voter is going to put a team that lost to another by 24 points in front. At least a 3 point OT loss to a team who you outgained has some room for debate, but a 24 point loss slams the door shut on any question.

I don't discount that theory, and you're most likely right. But IF Arkansas were to beat LSU, you'd start hearing a lot more about how Arkansas wasn't healthy when they played Bama. I still think Bama would have beaten us, but pundits will mention the health aspect and use it as an excuse to vault Arkansas, possibly.

But it'd really only come into play if Arkansas won convincingly. Like 10 points.

Then you can easily see why voters would give Arkansas some leeway. "Well, they beat the #1 team by 10 away from home...and that's the team that beat Bama just a few weeks ago."

It's all about WHEN you lose a lot of times. Just look at Oregon.

Yeah you're right there, but I would rather win out like ya'll might do. Leaves no room for an argument later on.

What's crazy to me is that if LSU somehow loses to Arkansas theday after Thanksgiving, then they probably aren't even going to make a bCS bowl. That's a fricking shame after the season you guys have had. I know its a big if, but damn, there shouldn't even be a possibility of LSU not playing in a BCS game and they'll be in the CapOne if we somehow luck into a win. BCS needs new rules

I agree with this 100% - if Bama, LSU, and Ark finish 11-1 then they all deserve a BCS game..

Ain't gonna happen but as someone else said 4 wouldn't have to happen. If by some gift from God 1-3 did happen arkansas would be a NCG lock. Again...not happening.
