Even in those isolated games, Ole Miss' and Freeze's weaknesses showed. Auburn amassed 500+ yards of offense and 248 on the ground. Ole Miss running backs accounted for 91 yards rushing.
In the Arkansas game, Arkansas had over 600 yards of offense. Ole Miss running backs accounted for 112 yards rushing.
I've been saying it all year, Freeze's system he currently runs and the structure of the team will generally keep them in any game, but it's just not sustainable to get over the hump over the course of the season. He flat out has not figured out that you have to be able to run the ball with your running backs to succeed in this league. And his up-tempo would kill any defense that lacks depth, regardless of how talented the starting 11 are. Freeze also seems to out-think himself far too often during games.
Injuries happen. LSU, for instance, had two starting DL go down before the season started, had Ricky Jefferson lost for the season mid-season, starting linebacker Corey Thompson also went down before the season began. That's where the depth issue comes into play. But most of Ole Miss' injuries have not even been on defense. Ole Miss lost all of their running backs, an already weak position. They've lost two players in the secondary early on. The two other defensive players that were hurt got hurt this past weekend when Ole Miss was already 3-5.

Y'all really are 2 once-in-a-lifetime plays from having a much higher spot in the record books.
No troll. Unbelievably bad luck on both of those
Yep and I guess that's football, but when it happens to you it sure feels like you are by yourself.

I'm confused....typically, you're beating the horse about how we're just little ole miss and need to remember our place but now you're trashing freeze for us not having comparable depth as bama and lsu.
Well, prior to this season, Ole Miss fans had quite a different opinion of Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze. People spoke about how much losing key guys from the prior two years wasn't going to hurt because player A and player B could step in and Ole Miss wouldn't be affected all too much. No one wanted to hear it. Y'all were talking 9-10 win season as a floor for this year. Losing two guys in the secondary shouldn't have a team go from the top 10 to struggling to make a bowl game even before Chad Kelly went down.
Maybe just maybe Hugh Freeze isn't the coach you thought he was. Maybe just maybe Ole Miss can't compete with the big programs year in and year out. My saying Ole Miss will always be Ole Miss and pointing out Freeze's deficiencies as a coach are not mutually exclusive ideas. It's calling a spade a spade.

This is probably why the NCAA hasn't brought the hammer down yet. They're waiting for Ole Miss to accomplish something so they can take it away.

Dear cave canem, please save this post for just a couple more weeks. I have ketchup that you can use.

I'll refer you to the preseason prediction thread. 5/20 Ole Miss fans that responded picked Ole Miss to finish worse than 9-3. 8/20 picked Ole Miss to win 10+ games. The remaining 7 picked Ole Miss to go 9-3. So no, it's not "bull fricking shite."

I think the Jose canseco level cheating freeze has done cancels out any head start Mullen had
I'd say it's more Rafael Palmero level cheating we've been doing
