We struggled greatly in 2000, so I am sure LSU probably beat us. 1999. Porter's junior year was when he and we were good. Porter was an incredible athlete and got by on it in college. He cleaned up the boards and could jump out of the gym. His dunks were some of the best ever. However, I do not think he was a hard worker at all. He never developed any type of jumper. I figured he would suck in the NBA since he had no jump shot and he did.

Before the 2000 season, you guys were picked to win the title...but that didn't work out obviously.

Gerald Wallace didn't have any type of jumper at Alabama, and both were similar players...But Wallace is doing a solid job in the league.

I remember that guy. He was the last pick the year he came out in the draft. Was a Golden State Warrior. Here's his track record

Golden State Warriors (NBA) 2000–01
Dakota Wizards (CBA (US)) 2001-05
Carifac Fabriano (Serie A) 2002-03
Oliveirense Simoldes (LCB) 2003-04
Oklahoma Storm (USBL) 2002-03,2004-05
Barangay Ginebra Kings (PBA) 2005-06

Oh and he's gotten twice with drugs since leaving Auburn and was caught under the influence as well.

Poor Chris

he was there when LSU had stro. we defiantly beat them at au that year

Auburn swept LSU in '98-'99 and LSU swept Auburn in '99'-00. Auburn suspended Porter before the LSU game late that season after holding him out of the Florida game in Gainesville before that.

Swift's first game was vs Auburn in Baton Rouge in Jan of 1999. He had been held out in December because of grades, or some such issue. LSU blew a 17 pt lead early in the second half and Auburn came back. They smoked us in Auburn.

one of the top 10 dunks I have ever seen. Seemed to handle LSU pretty easily that game...80-54.

fouled out with 15:00 left second half 2000

That was hilarious. Porter was a good sport about everything (Ellis' Auburn teams usually were nice guys), and he took about three minutes to get to the bench because he went and shook hands with every LSU player before sitting down. It was kind of a tongue-in-cheek jab at the ref for calling a ticky-tack 5th foul on him. Of course, the entire time, the student section was chanting "LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT!" and the sonofabitch didn't sit down on the bench for about 10 minutes afterwards, but we still stared at him and watched his feet for LEFTs and RIGHTs, until finally he began to sit down, but he faked it and pointed at us with a "Gotcha" face.

LSU won 83-68 that night over #2 Auburn in one of the most fun nights at the PMAC, thanks in large part to a very entertaining Auburn team .

When Ellis came to speak to his radio guys in the postgame, he came and shook hands with all of us in the front row and asked us to make sure and come see the rematch in Auburn, which we did. He'd promised to get us popcorn and drinks, which he didn't do when we went (it was a high-profile game, and it was senior night at Auburn), but he actually did do it the next year when we went to Auburn, and of course he always came and asked us how we were before the games at the PMAC as long as he was the coach there. Really nice guy, and I always loved LSU/AU games because of Ellis. MSU's Stansbury was the exact same way. Great fellas. Love the SEC!

A friend and I were LSU students at the time, but while hanging out at the bar in Chili's on College, Richard Williams and his young protege Stansbury came in the day before their game here, and sat at the next table, Williams interacted and asked us about the SEC game we were watching, I knew whom he was, smiled, and we conversed for a while..great guys both of them.

I congratulated him for landing a CHS-BR Bear in recruiting, but teased him about it having to be hard recruiting kids to spend four years in Starkvegas?

He was absolutely owning Dale Brown and LSU for these few years.

Whom knew he was just a few years from a Final Four trip?
