"Irons is very proud of that sugar bowl".

It was a lot better than the Liberty Bowl. How was the weather in Memphis that day?

We got the bowl we earned that year. Can’t say that about Auburn, as proven by the resulting blowout vs Oklahoma and loss to a weak arse Uga team without an offense.

Nobody said that Alabama was trying to run him off, but the fact that fans were criticizing him shows they are just as ignorant as any fanbase. They ran Shula, Dubose, Fran and Curry off. And most people believe they ran Stallings off and his resume was better than Gus's. The Saban Era has Bama fans suffering from selective amnesia.

This is a perfect example of why you get so "side ways" with other posters.
Another poster(Auburn fan) and I were discussing how the Auburn fan base has tried to have Gus fired after every loss for the last 2 years, and you enter the picture with the obvious statement that some Alabama fans complain about Saban, too. After I reply back that they don't agree with all his decisions, but don't suggest that he be fired, you reply that nobody said they did, but they complained...and this goes on and on.
Basically you've hijacked the conversation and redirected it toward your statement that some Alabama fans complain about Alabama football, which nobody denies. You do this on a regular basis.

This an example of why people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks. You bring up the fact that AU fans have wanted to get rid of Gus for two years, and take an arrogant attitude about them wanting him gone. I mention the history of Bama fans with Dubose, Curry, Fran and Shula, and then bring up the recent criticism of Saban, and you can not take it. It isn’t about hijacking the conversation, but setting the hypocrisy straight.

So Bowl results are an indicator of how good a team is? But for years we have heard that unless you are in the NC, Bowls are meaningless. I guess UGA is not use to that excuse yet. All those years of the Liberty and Music City Bowls have made UGA fan numb to the Big Boy Alibis. They got better at it his last season.

Below is the conversation I was having with Tigerman97 when you entered. Notice that you agreed that the fan base wanted him gone after the LSU and Clemson loss. This "arrogant attitude" I had is a figment of your imagination, AND what the hell does a bunch of fired Alabama coaches have to do with ANYTHING involving the conversation. You're defensive, and resentful about anything pertaining to Alabama, and it screams of an inferiority complex you are harboring. Just read below Tigerman 97'd post and your reply...and think about what I said.
..........................................................

"I agree. Many wanted him gone, but in truth they don't think logically about it. He's done enough to keep working with him. He got to much money, but that had more to do with the market than Auburn really wanting to pay that much money."

Many wanted him gone mainly due to the Clemson and LSU Game.
After the Bama Game, his entire resume looked a lot better and the only real candidate as a replacement was Jimbo Fisher. Again, Gus's accomplishments are the second best in the Conference right now, so the $49M contract made perfect sense. We watched UF have to settle for Mullen (good choice, but not their first). Watched UT go after an unproven DC and Ark being jerked around (may be the best hire). Auburn did not want to start over.

Every game is an indicator of how good a team is.

Motivation can play a role in how a bowl game goes.

Hell, I thought that would be the grade for the majority on the Auburn folks. It seems that I see more of you folks bitching about him than praising him. He's 1-3 in bowl games...no national or conference coaching awards...his conference winning % is less than Dye, Tuberville and even Bowden. Personally, I'm glad he's your man...helluva coach. I'll bet our Georgia folks will agree.

It's too bad that you're not the sum total of the Auburn fan base then....there's gotta be a HUGE warehouse somewhere housing all the torches and pitchforks your fans had out on several occasions last year (especially after the LSU and Clemson games ).

You're right. It seems that after each loss for the last 2 years, the mob has stormed the sports boards condemning him...hell, they've even gotten after him when they've won ugly.

quote:
Fans will be Fans. How many Bama Fans complained about Saban playing Hurts all year. For the most part they would go after his Coordinators in years past, but the end of the season they started to turn on Saban. Decisions on Coaching hires are not based on Fan reactions.
I'm gonna go back and research to see how many fans wanted to run him off over it.

Auburn fans have been talking about RUNNING GUS OFF for two years!...not just complaining about one thing or another....you got a REAL problem with perspective when it comes to Auburn and the rest of the world. Have all the years of being teased and looked upon as a "little brother" caused this?..

These are your own words, just on this topic.

And every one was a reply to an Auburn poster who, in most cases, agreed that the Auburn fan base had been out for Gus's hide after every loss for the last 2 years...you seem to be the only one to take offense to my posts on the subject...as you are with most non-Auburn posters.

I do not think you are that stupid, just read your own post and think about the history of the Bama Program since Bear Bryant.

More people than not would be happy with Bama’s record between Bryant and Saban.

Won more championships than you boogs in that time frame.
Just saying.

READ THE TITLE OF THE THREAD!!
It's about grading the AUBURN coach! I commented about how a large group of AUBURN fans wanted him gone after losses, and that was one of the reasons for my grade. Then YOU BROUGHT PAST ALABAMA COACHES into the conversation...now what the frick does past Alabama coaches have to do with a grade given to the AUBURN COACH??
You are known around here to be narrow minded and petulant, and I'm tired of babysitting your arse. Why don't you go play in the runway traffic at Hartsville?

You can tell a lot about a person by how they react when they get called out. You can not handle being called out.
