Bama has a win over USC and the tie breakers. USC is 8th in the SEC. They were not getting in ahead of Bama and Ole Miss.

Are you talking about standards?

Head to head is a standard.

Here’s a new concept. All other things being equal, head to head as a tie breaker…

This is applicable in USC vs Ole Miss vs USC as they all have 9-3 records. So head to head would could be used to separate them. If one of them was 10-3 or 9-3 then head to head loses value because all other things would no longer be the same…

This concludes todays lesson for DJ. Until next time

You do understand that SMU, Boise State, and Arizona State won’t be 3,4, and 5?

Do YOU understand that 2 of the 3 will be 3 and 4?

The four highest ranked conference champions automatically get a bye and will be automatically seeded 1-4 based on the order of which they are ranked.

The 5th conference champion gets an automatic bid but they will be seeded based on where they are ranked.

For example if SMU wins the ACCCG, they will be seeded #3 even though they are not ranked that high. They would be the third highest ranked team amongst the winners of (OR/PSU), (TX/UGA), (ASU/ISU) and (Boise/UNLV).

But if Clemson wins the ACCCG they will be seeded #11 or 12 based on their overall ranking even though they won their conference championship and are the 5th automatic bid.

Notre Dame will be the 5th seed unless Penn State or Georgia win a very close game in which case Oregon and/or Texas would slide down to the 5th spot and bump Notre Dame, who would still host in round 1.

If UNLV upsets Boise, Clemson beats SMU and Iowa State beats Arizona State then we have a situation where Clemson and Iowa State have a first round bye and are seeded 3 and 4 and hosting the Orange and Cotton Bowls. Let that sink in.

Other than coddle and reward them for not having a CCG by giving them a home playoff game?

Nothing. Do they need to do more?
