For the record, I take this pandemic very seriously! I'm 72 years old, living with level 3 emphysema and chronic bronchitis. This stuff would probably take me out.
My problem with this thread is the fact that, as with everything, the left continues to make everything political and degrading to Trump. Most folks have just zoned out all the rhetoric and propaganda by now, but it's still ugly and negative, and that goes for BOTH sides.
Stay safe, I hope you are staying away from everyone.
Many people I know are wondering if they've already gotten this virus and/or have it. So probably many people out there who are not diagnosed.

Me too. The thing is, mentioning the name of trump isn’t necessarily political, but a few of these guys can only whine about politics rather than anything related to Covid.

Just stop. You are an old dude obsessed with the 2 party rivalry. I despise both. The party the boss belongs too is irrelevant to this issue. The criticism would remain valid if trump were a dims.

I have respect for coachcrisp's opinions.
You were a straight up virus denier when this whole thing happened.
You have no right to call anyone "politically motivated" because it's clear that your political fandom caused you to buy into conspiracy theories.

Here's the thing. If you were really "not politically biased" or whatever you want to call it, you'd have no problems with people criticizing the president's initial response. Notice how neither me or djs are attacking conservatives or republicans.
Rather, we are criticizing the president and, to a lesser extent, the current administration.
You brought politics into it by bringing up "dems", "liberals", etc.
Criticizing an administration isn't "political". It's American.

Since the day after the man was elected, the democrats, along with their media henchmen, have declared WAR on Trump. Even they don't try to deny it. It's a fact! What makes the coronavirus emergency any different with these people?...NOTHING. The country's grown weary of their 24/7 attacks for 3 years now. The comments accusing him of being unfit to be President from many on the left are uncalled for, but they continue.
I didn't interject Trump into this thread (look it up!), but I have defended him and his administration during this time.
My question to everybody is what do the Democrats have to offer the country instead?...Joe Biden?...Bernie Sanders?...REALLY???

500k Americans still aren't going to die and you're stupid for even entertaining the notion. I've always maintained that personal quarantines are smart, which is all I suggested to him.
Beyond that, I don't know what the frick you are talking about. I don't vote and I don't pay attention to any politics or political news at all. As usual, your arse is barking up the wrong tree.

Does anybody believe that Joe Biden has early onset dementia ? This is the guy the Dems are banking on and will do anything to gain the power back. Watch their mouthpiece CNN if you doubt that the left is trying to politicize this crisis.

No. Besides, if push comes to shove I have water filters that can purify the water to any point I want. I can purify water down to 0 TDS, which is so pure it actually becomes bad for you.
I just like bottled water because it's easier to deal with, and only a few dollars for a decent amount. Throw them in the fridge and just grab them as you are walking out the door, etc. Convenience is all.
For the most part, water is the only thing I drink.

When did I ever say 500k people would die? I've only argued that we should take this seriously, and that I'm glad the SEC decided to do that. I wasn't a fan of the SEC commissioner, but he gained some respect for me watching him handle this in the interviews.
As for what I'm talking about, here's some quotes from you:
This one is interesting not only because you use the term "debunking" as if this thing is all a hoax, but you also got Germany completely wrong as they are now resorting to Italy-style lockdowns.
Here's you being political and touting China's communist government as having "found good treatments" for CV. As if their "good treatments" were anything but welding people in their homes (quite literally) and leaving them to die. Something tells me you'd have some different opinions on the subject if that happened here.

More testing only goes towards debunking the severity of the problem. As we seen in Germany

I wonder if one of your relatives said that in 1918, and then ended up in a mass grave.
What are you basing that on? The science math supports the possibility, but we know you don’t want to talk about that.

Why do people keep bringing up 1918? That was a flu virus for starters and the main people it killed were healthy people ages 20-40 because their immune systems had a tendency to over-react to the virus.
Common sense and history says the 500k number is bullshite. People like you just want to fear monger and turn this topic into politics and as far as I'm concerned, you can frick right off. I've bookmarked your posts, you better hope like hell that shite gets anchored.
Just another idiot who makes claims and then tries to use science and math labels as appeals to authority.
Meanwhile, back in reality this isn't the first time something like this has happened and you don't have to go back to 1918 to find it. You don't even have to go back more than a decade.

More testing has in fact debunked the claims people have made about 500k people, and also that the mortality rate is higher than it really is. I explained the reasons for this, and I even linked an article that went into even more detail.
It's simple, they only test the sickest people, they do not test people with mild symptoms. The more testing that is done, the more you test people with mild symptoms and the lower the mortality rate goes down. It's dropping and it was expected.
It's not rocket science. That's why China's mortality rate went from 16% all the way down below 1%. When it was 16% they were mostly just testing the sickest people, when it went to 1% it was because they were doing much more testing.

You're fricking stupid if you think I'm touting anything China. Those numbers were mentioned for stats. 1.3 billion people and less than 4k deaths. That after the virus ran free for over a month before any treatments were done. The fact of the matter is if China didn't have 500k deaths from the virus, neither will the US.
INB4 one of you idiots claim China's numbers aren't accurate. Go ahead and tell me what the accurate numbers, because unless it's closer to millions of people, nothing supports the 500k claim.

quote:First, I DIDN'T bring Trump into this thread. I simply defended him. Secondly, this President has been attacked EVERY day, 24/7 by the Democratic Party and the national media from the moment he was declared the winner of the '16 election. Hell, everybody knows it...it's a FACT! If we had a Democratic President in office right now, we'd have an entirely different message coming out of the media now. Finally, look back at the comments that brought him into the thread to begin with. Some examples are: "TRUMP denied the WHO tests and gave the contract to a company he owns stock in and now there ARE NOT enough tests.", and this one ", All Trump did was focus on keeping the virus out of the U.S - like the xenophobic germaphobe that he is: all he knows is when he lived up in his glass penthouse on top of Trump Tower, he never had any issues. Just build the walls...."

Believe it or not, applying the rates to the population of China the same way you are to get that 500k for the US is actually math. Using that math, China should expect about 2 million deaths. Instead it's less than 4000.
But sure, it's the guy who does math shite for a living that isn't applying it, not the guy who gets upset when the same formula is applied elsewhere.
