What are the chances the bowls try to create an NIT?

I have no clue what the bowls are going to do for TV revenue/viewership this year.
But if they begin to tank due to opt outs, and general interest waning, should they just create an 8 team tourney for secondary bragging rights/tv money?
Notre Dame, Texas and Vandy would be in there. BYU, Michigan and Utah would, too.
It would be interesting to see if the CFP would expand to grab that money and also eliminate any complaining about the winner of that tourney.

I have a better idea.
Go back to the UPI and AP polls.

We’ll go to a 64 team playoff before an NIT for CFB.

I think there would be way too many coaches changing teams and opt-outs to make it marginally worthwhile and entertaining.

I thought this place had a very low opinion of the college football media. You want to go back to putting everything in the hands of the media blowhards and the weasly beat writers?
Misplaced nostalgia surrounds us.
